I agree with what others are saying about the ER for your situation in Alaska. I have a SR AWD that I am very happy with, but I don’t have a 70 mile roundtrip commute and live in a warm place.
You want a decent range buffer too in order to be comfortable, you don’t want to have to make sure you are leaving with 100% charge every day in the winter and ending your day with 10% charge.
The battery will also slightly degrade over time, so this would become a greater issue as the years go by.
Assuming your 70 miles is spent mostly at highway speeds, you also won’t be setting any range records.
I think the ER battery would make a meaningful difference based on where you live and how much you need to drive each day.
