I finally took some videos of the issue. It is now occurring on sharp turns to both the left and right. It sounds like gravel knocking in the wheel wells.

The sound also happens from time to time during less sharp turns, but that depends: accelerating rather rapidly into a turn from a stop, especially on a bit of a slope, usually triggers the noise.

Yes, that's what I get... I can tell you it's not the drive (half) shafts!! Some people have said it is a motor?

I'm in the same boat, same noise, so I try not to do sharp turns and accelerate too fast into turns from a stop.

Got a new left axle. Now I need a new right one. So far, they seem confident it's not internal to the motor. Inventory being what it is, I won't get the other axle in for a couple weeks or more. Going to time it with the glass recall work just to minimize my visits to the dealer.

My update shows the video where you can hear the noise we are getting when turning.

Went into the dealer and they have replaced the R/H half shaft but noise still there so needs more investigation ?
I hate to inform you that your steering wheel is on the wrong side as well

I wonder how many people are experiencing this issue? I’m starting to feel like one of those “frequent flyers” to the ER. I’ve probably been in 6 times to the service center in the 9mos I’ve owned the car. Mainly it’s been for software updates, but there was also replacing the buzzy IPC (it still buzzes but it’s about half as loud now, so good improvement there).

I noticed this current issue a few months ago but didn’t think much of it until reading this thread. I would consider it only an occasional nuisance, not even worth bothering with, except that when I hear it’s a bad CV joint issue that makes me believe it is something that will only get worse and I ought to get fixed now while I’m in warranty.

So the car goes back into the shop next week to replace both left and right CV joints, the windshield and roof recalls (neither of which I’d even bother with but they have to be done if I want other service), plus the 21P22 battery software update (this I really want), plus whatever software update is mentioned in TSB 21-2190 (to maybe fix DCFC compatibility issues).

I’m quite confident I’m not a hypochondriac when it comes to health - I hope I’m not becoming that way with me car? Do think I’m off base?

Looking forward to the outcome on yours as I'm convinced it is not halfshafts (axles) based on what's happened to mine.

No you're not, the cars are problematic but that's what you get having a first generation car operated by computers!

Hmmm, halfshaft replaced but I'm now in the same boat as some of you have reported here like @Badger66 & @jjwolf

The noise is still there! They ordered new brake pads and rotors to try next. No mention of motor replacement yet...

? Has anyone here actually had the noise RESOLVED after the axle/halfshaft was replaced?? @methorian how is yours now?

Not great but nice to have it confirmed.... I've not heard of a half shaft sorting out our specific noise.

Interesting they are going for pads and rotas... others are waiting for hub replacement.

At least some of you have been able to schedule appointments. The plastic part above the center brake light was discolored. I mentioned it to the field engineers more for them to note, but they wanted to replace it. In doing so, they discovered you can't unless you also replace the center brake light, which was ordered mid October. So the brake light portion has a hole in it, so I don't let a power washer or car wash near it. (bucked time).

I also have the noise on turning, and have never received an OTA update.

To date calling them and stopping by the dealer, I do not have any date scheduled, and nobody returns my calls for information on a service appointment for all the updates, glass issue or noises.

I'm seriously thinking of trading the FE in on a used Model 3 they have. I don't like the style and the austere interior, but seriously??

UPDATE:
I was contacted by Ford who went to bat for me. The part has been in for months, but nobody informed me. It goes in Tuesday. Replace spoiler, 10K checkup, glass recall, figure out the turning noise, and software updates. Oh and a quote on a 2022 PE.

The person who posted how to find your update status is a genius. It appears the update was successful, but I don't know when as I was not informed of that either.
