I'm having similar noises with my 2021 RWD Prem. It was covered under the 8yr EV warranty? I assumed the 5yr/60k drivetrain warranty. Just making sure so I know how long I have to get it fixed.
Yes, covered under some kind of warranty but now waiting two weeks for the EXPEDITED axle shaft part. After the two wrong dealer diagnosis at my inconvenience. FREE Recalls and Warranty work are not FREE. lost time and logistics, loss of use, shuttles, etc.... FORD stop wasting owners time.

Sorry you had a bad experience. But your individual and experience doesn’t add up to your conclusions about domestic vs BMW reliability.

BMW does make a good vehicle, but when it comes to dependability studies, domestic brands typically are half of the top 10 most reliable. There’s basically no statistically significant difference between imports and domestic brands…… anymore.

Now if we were talking about the 1980s and 1990s, there was a significant gap. But that gap closed years (even decades now) ago.

That all said, yeah this car is notorious for buggy software, but actual issues that require real in the shop repairs don’t seem any more frequent than everything else on the road.
Im dealing with here and now. FORD appears to have the top position in Recalls. Toyota, Lexus (both boring) are the most reliable, and surprisingly BMW has improved their reliability enough to earn 3rd position... Especially in the 4cyl + 8spA + RWD config. so the German value compelled my shift.

Just FYI, city miles will stress axles & CVJ's much more than highway miles. (I bring this up because you reference this like it's unusual) Clearly it was defective (part), but the same part would likely have lasted twice that long with highway miles.
In city Honolulu is slow creeping start and general driving. No launching and hard acceleration is a fraction of the mainland habits... Hey, my general point is that FORD and the "Domestics" seem to have systemic problems of reliably and warranty issues. Just in this thread, some 2021 owners have had zero issues and another had 3, possibly a 4th Half shaft failure. Parts are under-engineered more and more to increase profits and propagate off warranty failure.

We had a 1969 Pontiac Catalina with a 400/400 setup and when I was 16. I could roast tires for entire blocks, one wheel of course only.
We went to the tire shop and the guy looked at me and told my mom not let my drive the car anymore.
I got a 1966 F-100 straight 6, granny gear 4 speed with 411 gears as a reward.
It would still get 3rd gear chirps.

I’m talking about the here and now. And yes for multiple years in a row domestic brands hold about half the top 10 most reliable spots.

And more importantly, the difference between number 1 and number 10 isn’t very great.

At the end of the day, I wouldn’t let apparent reliability drive the buying decision. Every car can break and the difference in probability between brands is very little. So just buy the car you want.
