But not MY first autocross. I've been running for the past almost 20 years (with a little break the past few years) and also do some club racing on track when I have a running race car. But part of the reason I got the Mach-E was to have something fun again. It's a big, heavy pig, but it's still fun to throw around.

It performed.... well enough. Especially given the all-season tires. I was the only one in BS but finished 7th of 22 in PAX - which was headed by a pack of Minis (a couple JCWs with good drivers too).

I'll have some in-car video soon too, as soon as I bother to pull it off my GoPro.

Video clip of my best run... and I REALLY need to turn off the stupid hypersmooth thing on my GoPro (that's apparently why it pans left and right around the corners).

Somehow autocross in a mall parking lot is a letdown...

Ok, what is "autocross" and how do you get into this? I need this in my life.

Also, BS?, PAX?, JCW?

I think the mall parking lot is the best use of a mall I have ever seen.

In simple terms, autocross is a timed run through a course of cones, one car at a time. Cars are divided into classes based on the car, modifications, etc.

There are different organizations that host/sanction autocross events. One of the largest (probably) is the SCCA (Sports Car Club of America). The SCCA calls their autocross program "Solo", so you'll see that term too. They're divided into different regions across the country. Based on the location on your profile, I think you'd be in the Northwest Region: https://nwr-scca.org/

BS: B Street - the SCCA autocross class that an unmodified Mach-E is assigned to.
PAX: Kind of a "master" class that equalizes all of the drivers from different classes. Basically every class gets a "multiplier" applied to the times in that class based on performance to equalize the times to compare between different classes.
JCW: John Cooper Works - an optional performance package for Minis - usually their top performance trim level.
