On the spectrum of sand-appropriate vehicles, the MME is probably around #85 out of 100. I’d pick something better.

I have a Ridgeline, which is fantastic in the sand. My cousin has an AWD premium, I have the 2wd. Went to Corolla NC on vacation last summer and he was toast, couldn't move in the dry sand.

I've seen U-Hauls try to cross the dunes on the Outer Banks. Watching an MME would be funnier. And sadder.

How many dune buggies does it take to weigh the same as an MME? 🤷‍♂️
Probably 2. But weight is only one factor in traction on sand. My giant 4x4 Suburban will outrun your average dune buggy on the sand, even though it weighs three times as much. Because it has very wide tires, 4 wheel drive, and a much higher power to weight ratio.

There is still zero chance I will take my MME on the sand though, no matter if it can do it or not!

I deflated my Blazer’s tires and had some fun on the beach a few times. It wasn’t worth it. All that sand was a pain to get out. There was always more sand seeping out of the rust holes and seams no matter how much I vacuumed, not to mention needing to change axle and tranny fluids afterward. 😱🐩
