Hello, all - we live in British Columbia, in an area where winters get chilly but not overly so. Researching home chargers (hardwired, will be outdoor as we have no garage), and I feel like it's narrowed down to Charge Point and Grizzl E Ultimate (48A). I would appreciate input - and for a little more context, budget is a consideration.

We've done the research in terms of reading lots of reviews and watching lots of videos, but we would like to get opinions from actual Mach E owners based on their experience. Thanks, everyone.

This is very subjective. Look for reviews by State of Charge on YouTube.

Here is the latest one.

Thanks so much! I have already read tons of reviews and watched all the videos, including these - I'm just looking for opinions from Mach E owners based on their own experience. Thanks for posting these videos, I appreciate it. : )

I’d future proof the installation and go with a Tesla universal. It offers the option to charge j1772 and NACS. It operates very well and can supply up to 48 amps at the charger (11+ kWh).

I would recommend the Emporia charger wholeheartedly *if* you are planning to get solar or if you are thinking of getting the Emporia Vue whole-house 16 circuit energy monitor. They work well together.

Whereas if I wasn't interested in monitoring or solar I might just recommend the dumb Grizzl-E. It has a solid build.

I have both (two houses) and am happy with both.

I have the Tesla Universal and it’s been good. I do wish you could more easily change the voltage. Logic was the next car might have a different port and now I could charge anything EV.

I think, at their price-point, the Emporia is hard to beat. I have one at each of my two properties, and they work great, with nice app support. One is inside, plug-in, and one is outside, hardwired. I installed both myself.

OpenEVSE - Hands down best charger I have used. It can be purchased with NACS or J-1772. The charge cable can be changed later if you get a different vehicle with a different connection. It can be monitored and controlled over WiFi and it does NOT need an online account or subscription. You can program it to do things in Home Assistant like, only enable charging if your phone is on the home WiFI. That way it locks out the charger unless you are home.

I have not had any issues with my Autel charger.
