Question for everyone. It is 2025 and Ford still does not have Sentry mode for the Mach E. (You hear this Ford) I have a 2021 Mach E that I love and have an old dash cam I been using from my old car to this one. I like to update to a new one that will go good with the Mach E. I like to hide the cables as much as posable. Have 2K or better front and a good rear camera. And something easy to play back videos on my phone (I love if Ford allow playback on the display like a youtube video)

OK everyone. Give me your best picks.

Thanks

I would not run a front and rear setup off of the mirror power using an adapter. My FitcamX cameras came with an adapter to plug directly into mirror power but I opted to hard wire them to the fuse box on both my 2021 and my 2024. How well the wires are hidden depends on how much time you or your installer are willing to spend on routing the cables. ??

I’ve been using the FITCAMX front and rear cameras for a few years now without issue.

As for Sentry mode, the Mach-e camera are not quite useful for that. Try having someone walk towards and around your car while watching only the camera feed. Also, fwiw, a friend with a Model S tells me that sentry mode is a big battery draw. I can neither confirm or deny that as I don’t have a Tesla and never will.

Why not? Unless you really need parking mode. That's one of the features most get the FitcamX for. I haven't heard much about problems using the mirror power adapter.

Noise and power draw on a circuit that wasn’t designed for it. My camera is hard wired to a more robust switched circuit on the fuse block. ??

I have a FITCAMX. It's integrated in the plastic cover around the mirror. Easy enough to install that even I, 43 female, managed without issues. ?

The battery draw on a Tesla is minimal - I'd be hard pressed to say 1 to 2 %, but partner it with Cabin Overheat Protection, maybe 4 to 5% on a hot day for both. All said, that amounts to nothing compared to what you get for it. Sentry mode - built in 6 camera views, USB protected in the glove box. Recording when motion detected, videos saved. Live camera viewing from the app. Saved video viewing from the app. Download video right to your phone from the car.

Perfect battery management from the car - of the HV and LV battery. 12 v charges when needed. All done just as you would expect. Nothing extra to buy, nothing extra to wire, nothing extra to integrate.

For a commuter that parks in a garage each night and charges every few nights, you don't even have to think about the system working for you all the time.

Sentry will shut down if the HV battery reaches 20%, so there is that limitation.

Mine has tapped into the mirror for the last three years. Glad my car hasn’t caught fire yet.

I put one in my wife’s BMW i4. She is happy with it. I just wish it had a screen

Battery draw from Sentry is usually up to 1%/per hour. I was good for almost 2-3 days when not in area that didn't get much traffic.

They we're working to optimizing Sentry to lower the power draw.

Proof is in the pudding. 2023 Performance Y - today in Dallas, heat up to 97 degrees. From before 7 AM to after 5 PM. Sentry and overheat on all day. I can assure you that the AC took 80% of this power. It kept the car at 100 degrees and Sentry on all day (opposed to 130 or more cars typically heat up to)

Two screen shots from morning - one showing HV SOC and then estimated miles. Then at end of day SOC and estimated miles.

Used 6% of the HV battery which is an estimated 17 miles of range - 10 hours outdoor sitting on the pavement.

I've been running a FitCamX off the mirror in my Lightning for three years and now am doing the same in my Mach E.

These cameras draw very little power.
