Black screen keeps resetting

Every few days my screen goes black - either when I start the car it's black or it can do it randomly when I'm driving. When the screen goes black, nothing is accessible - no radio, no A/C, etc.
Then after a bit, the Ford logo comes on and it resets. Is this normal? Why does it keep doing this?

I think there's a bug introduced earlier this year that causes SYNC (the center display) to occasionally freeze up within a few seconds after starting the vehicle. Sometimes it freezes very quickly after start, so the screen's fully black. It resets itself automatically within 90 seconds.

However your SYNC is also restarting in the middle of your drives. That's not expected... Mine did that during the prior two summers on really hot days. I brought my vehicle to a dealer and they replaced the APIM. (That's the computer module that runs SYNC and does all the processing for the center display.) Since my APIM was replaced this January, I haven't had those mid drive restarts other than maybe just one or two times in March or April. It was significantly worse before the replacement.

You may want to have a dealer check on your concern.

Today the screen in front of me rebooted 3 times while driving. I did have Apple CarPlay with notifications of red light cameras. I have 6.1 installed just kept driving and would keep up with traffic between reboots. Any idea. Is 6.1 buggy??

My reboots started a couole days back. While driving the console reboots every 3-7 minutes.

I thought it was the wired Android auto connection, but disconnecting did not make a diff. Will try without a phone present to see if AA wireless triggers it.
The big change was 6.1.0 OTA.

Hopefully more chime in, and it turns out to be a software bug.
