Hi All,

I noticed over the weekend that the Bluecruise would automatically disable after going faster than 80 Mph. Do we know if this is a temporary max speed? Highways in the USA can reach 80 which means drivers will go over 10-15. This would keep me from subscribing after the free trial, what do you all think?

Been there since I started driving it in 2024. Doesn’t really impact me, driving at 80 really hammers the efficiency anyways.

Same here in UK.
On motorways I usually set my speed to an indicated 82mph (actual speed 80mph).
If I need to fly faster then that for a moment, I'll just take over the steering.
As Maui says, our range flies out of the window at that speed anyway.

It’s the max. Ford does this for safety, obviously. (Meanwhile, you can set a threshold for Predictive Speed Assist to exceed the posted limit by up to 20mph LOL - although the 80mph cap for BlueCruise still applies).

To be clear, BlueCruise still works above 80; it is only BlueCruise Hands Free that is capped at 80 mph.

Hands free works up to 81 mph for me, but I assume that might be a display rounding issue.

The same for me sometimes. However, BlueCruise has only stayed on for about 2 minutes at 81 mph.

Mostly correct but you forgot Ford's terminology change. BlueCruise (which is the hands-free ADAS) is capped at ~80 mph. What Ford used to call Hands-on BlueCruise is now just called Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering. ACC/LC still works above 80.

Unless, of course, Ford changed their terminology again as they often do!

It only takes one 'Canceled' BCHF in the middle of a sweeping ramp to put you into a wall or right off the road. I've had it happen more than once where BC just 'whoops sorry I quit'. I actually have a spot on the 101 near the 60 where it always just quits. There's a boat load of interference in the area as Carplay some times dies as well. It's in a straight line and after having it do it to me some 50 or so times I'm used to it (fun enough it only happens in the HOV lane). I've had it happen once on a sweeping off ramp where it couldn't hold the turn at around 75. Yep it would have sent to unknowing customer in to a frenzy, wall, or worse. But the fact I was, I was trying to do 75 hands free in a 45 mph off ramp would have been my own stupidity. (reality was I was pushing it's limits as hard as I could so that I knew. I was ready for whatever happened with my hand floating over the steering wheel.)

In my F150, I monitor the actual speed PID and while the instrument cluster says 81 and I'm still in Hands-free, the PID confirms I'm traveling at 79.x-80.x

So yep! The instrument cluster reading isn't the absolute determining value that Bluecruise is monitoring.
