It’s a sedan vs crossover, so the comparison isn’t direct but the point stands that BMW’s 2027 Neue Klasse platform absolutely smokes the MME’s.

It’s important to remember two things:

1) 2026+ EV technology is really good
2) Ford has only marginally improved the MME’s platform since 2019.

Ok, just looked at the pictures - it has a pretty useless microfrunk. The charging adaptor appears to take up all the volume. No mention of CarPlay or performance.

So that makes us "Alt Klasse" I guess

Overall though happy to see progress, even if it's not from Ford

wow - "Neue Klasse" is bringing the goods... I hope Ford is taking note. Does everyone have to drive a pickup truck?
Ford has never competed with BMW so I don’t know what notes they need. Ford’s new EV platform is already behind in specs, but that’s fine as long as long as Ford can bring it at the $30k price point they are targeting. Not every EV needs to be bleeding edge. If you want bleeding edge then you’ll have to pay for bleeding edge.

That seems really slow? An AWD Mach-e is faster, yet has less HP/Tq? what I am missing here.

The Mach E is in the price ballpark of the I3 which is... 50-60K... The MME will still be on the market when the I3 arrives.... so it looks like a competitor to me. similar size and price.

30K? I don't think there is ever going to be a 30k Ford EV. There might be a poverty spec one at 39,995 but I doubt that too. A Slate which is the definition of poverty spec is looking like 27k

The Mach-E ranges from $38k to $62k currently.

The iX3 is supposed to start around $60k. Well equipped probably closer to $70-75k. The i3 maybe a couple grand less.

Is there some price overlap? Sure. But people interested in a top spec Rally Mach-E are not likely the same as the people interested in a base spec i3/iX3. Comparably equipped the BMW will likely be $10-15k more than the Mach-E.

Im not sure, it weighs about the same. I'm sure they are sacrificing speed for 400 miles of range and that's what needs to be done. 4.7 is fast enough.

The Germans tend to under quote performance figures so real world might be a bit faster.

It also has an ~18% larger battery than Mach-E so it will likely be heavier than Mach-E.

They are also likely limiting the performance a bit to leave room for higher performance trims. The “50 xDrive” trim is meant to be the most popular/mainstream trim and there will be an M-performance trim and full fat ///M model forthcoming.
