Interesting remark in this thread that all 'recent' cars have moved the speed indicator to the corner of the screen. Might this be because of regulations that if you use driver steering aids, these indicators HAVE TO BE centre stage/cantered (or otherwise unavoidable visible without turning your head)? It might be that simple..... And one might say: "I do not use those driving aids to start with" Ford would counter argue: 1. We make the car and a customizable driver screen is not part of what you bought 2. We are not going to have two screen layouts: one for 'near self driving' and one for 'having fun'. And I guess the latter have been discussed within the product development group.
Stop making sense. This is a thread for unwarranted outrage. Common sense has no place here. ;)

Imagine if I came into the home that you paid for and painted all of your walls shit brown then I said, "hardy har har just live with it. My walls are shit brown so yours have to be shit brown also".

That's exactly what you're saying to me.

Some people might like things that constantly vibrate ?
Seat, maybe. My hand? It reminds me of holding a manual mill thats feeding too fast. Terrorizing.

I can't imagine having such a perfect life that this is what I have to worry about. I've seen a lot of incredibly stupid stuff on the internet, and you all have really out done yourselves here.
Just wait till we actually have BC 1.3.

I've driven in Hawaii quite a bit, so I understand why you would want most of the aids off. That being said, they push updates for the masses who would benefit from this overall. Unfortunately, that means they weren't thinking of those outliers who like the centered speed.
I've got some OCD myself, so I get the irritation. I'd rather have it centered also. A lot of cars don't though. Our Kia EV has the speed to the side of the info box also, and yes, lane centering can be right in the middle if you set it there.

I can’t think of a single one that has had the speedometer in the very center.
My 2014 Fusion also had the speedometer center. The speedometer should be centered in front of the driver. It is the most important piece of information that screen delivers.

I'm sure some of these dedicated folks would pay $800/year to have the speedometer in the middle of the screen. OH NO I'm almost out of popcorn.
I’d pay that to have it back.

Ok look, I'm all for you guys wanting what you want and I encourage you to keep fighting for what you want and change to the norm is good...

But isn't this going a little overboard? Almost every analog display ever made for a vehicle had the speed to one side and the RPMs to the other. So, for the last 100 years we have had the speed to the side... So, I mean if you said "I prefer it this way", well sure I get that. But when you say it's a safety thing, or I can't see it to the side etc etc, well then it kinda makes the argument less effective in my honest opinion.

It's perfectly fine to prefer it, like it or want it in the center, as it was, but y'all are taking it next level.

Rivian, Tesla, Kia, Hyundai, Polestar, BYD all have it to the side. For your next EV maybe consider a gutless, boring, Bolt or ID.4 because they have it dead center.

That’s what I’m saying. Currently driving a Kia Rio. Speedo on the right. Tach on the left. Little Info screen in the middle. It’s almost universally the norm.

? I’d still not have an unobstructed view of the speed. If they did do what you’re suggesting, there’d be no graphical indication of automation status.
My comment was tongue-in-cheek; I am actually fine with the display as is.

The thing you’re missing, for me, is it’s not about where the numbers are on the screen, it’s about how it looks. The unbridled layout with the speedometer in the center was beautiful piece of design, as beautiful as any exterior piece of the car. When I buy a car looks are as important to me, if not more important, than how it drives.

So let’s look at this a different way. Let’s say you brought your car in to the dealership for regular service and while it was there the body shop smoothed out all the Mustang lines on the exterior of the car so now it was just a bland crossover. Would you be ok with that? Would you defend it the same way you are this? Would you be happy that now it looks like every other car out there?
No you wouldn’t.
We did not buy this car to look like every other car. We bought it, even if only in part, because of the way it looks. When Ford strips away those looks that should anger you.

People who want more dancing balogna graphics on the display while they're driving need to quit driving and be a passenger instead.

It's a car, not a phone. Grow up, drive responsibly, keep your vision on the road, stop being distracted by glowing things like a 2 year old.
