Are there any conditions where brake lights come on when using adaptive cruise control ?
i.e. The lead car suddenly slows, do my brakes illuminate?

The brake lights operate off of the stop light switch and/or an accelerometer. If the car applies enough regenerative braking or regenerative plus friction braking the lights will come on. If you depress the brake pedal the lights will come on. ??

Thanks, I have the OBD reader plugged in, with brake light on/off selected.
I wasn't seeing it activate on deceleration.
I'm guessing the deceleration isn't enough to activate it.

I'm using Android, the OBD2 app, and I find the App icon in my info screen , by touching the icon to the left of the activate microphone icon.

That or else the parameter is only tied to the brake pedal. A better method is to stick a piece of tape or mirror to the rear window so you can visually see the light from the 3rd brake light.

I was able to see my brake lights this weekend, it was dark and I could see them in my side mirror. They came on whenever I lightened up on the accelerator.

Yes. They will activate whenever the car is slowing down more than 0.1 g.
Does fully releasing the accelerator pedal in 1-pedal drive mode always produce more than 0.1g of deceleration?

I would think not - for example, if you're doing 75 mph and going downhill, you may still have positive acceleration. So when you take your foot of the accelerator, the brake light may or may not go on, depending on conditions and speed. Is that right?

They come on anytime you let up on the accelerator. Not fully releasing.

Not ANY TIME. By slowly letting up, I can slow down gently enough to not have them activate. It’ve played with it quite a bit on my 5AM drives to work on deserted roads.

I witnessed the opposite. I slowly let up several times and the lights came on. This is on my new 2024.

If driving in a dark area you can see the red light reflect off of the road, markers, etc in your mirrors.
That or else the parameter is only tied to the brake pedal. A better method is to stick a piece of tape or mirror to the rear window so you can visually see the light from the 3rd brake light.
You were correct, the parameter is tied to the brake pedal not the light.
Confirmed, stopped with auto hold, indicated no brake light, press the brake pedal, indicates light is lit.
p.s. thanks for the tape tip.

Thanks but that sounds like OPD , I'm asking about when using Adaptive cruise control.
