-25C=-13F. Could it be the uninsulated--air flow over the top and bottom of the case due to the design and mounting--battery pack losing too much heat via conductive losses. The vehicle then prioritizes battery heating over cabin heating and the 21 models like most only have a 5kW heater. It would help if we can get battery temperature reports when this is going on.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Cabin heating problem on my 2021 model. 61792

The coolant heater is 0KW which explains ice cold air from the vents. The surprising part to me is it actually reaches to 4.8KW while temps are above -15C or so. However when it extreme cold and car sits umplugged for a couple hours, it starts blowing cold air with 0KW heater reading.

Yikes, that's one cold battery! Only about 24 kWh available at 50%. Surprised it's not going into turtle mode or displaying errors.

Yes, I would take it in again for heater replacement.

About the 21 heater problems; last year my car seemed to heat rather poorly, and this year it is even worse. Strangely enough it seems it happens mostly around 0-6 degrees Celsius. Entirely cold air regardless of temperature setting in car. Usually happens after 30 min highway driving (route to work is 50 mins of 60 mph / 100 kmh roads). Anyone in same situation?

Took mine to the dealership. They said they found a software issue and applied an update under a recall. The service advisor mentioned the technician was confident the heater should work normally after this, and it was working at the time I picked the car up.

However, I’m now seeing the exact same scenario again. With outside temperatures around –25°C (–33°C with wind chill), the heater is blowing ice-cold air. Cabin temperatures dropped to around –5°C while driving.

I’ll be taking it back to the dealership for another round of diagnostics and am hoping they can resolve it this time. Otherwise, I may need to start looking into other options.

I’ll update once I have more information.
After I had driven the car to below 60% SoC and handed car over to dealer on Wednesday with e-heater in faulted state, I heard from them on Thursday when, after I authorised an additional hour’s diagnostics to check wiring they report the diagnosis is a faulty PTC heater.

I authorised its renewal, it was too late for an overnight delivery so should be done Monday when it will be nice to have car back.

Thing is, there could be one or more of a whole range of reasons for this including but not limited to wiring, connections, diverter valve, PTC, software, temp sensors etc etc so a proper guided diagnosis is essential or you’re doing diagnosis by guesswork & substitution of parts which is folly and can be V V V expensive.

Just got Stangy back from repair by Perrys Mansfield UK who were just great.

I feel blessed that we have Perrys and Sandicliffe in the area who are super dealers.

PTC heater diagnosed faulty and changed and that 12V battery lockout recall done with no hitches whatsoeveršŸ‘

I found the heater now is hotter than it ever was before I even left the dealer’s business park that I remember it ever was since new😬

Cost c£2k though.

Still, on a 120,000+ mile 54mth car model new to market I feel it unreasonable to expect no issues at all.

One still happy customer here😁

Mine’s booked in this Thursday.

Has yours failed terminally?

If so could be the PTC heater.

Mine seems to fail to heat up when HVB charge level falls below a level, it was once 30/35% but latterly is around 60%.

After a charge above 60% today the heater got hot againšŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

I am told this is a fault the symptoms of which have not been seen before, remotely they have seen a code set for the cabin coolant heater.

Apparently during diagnosis there is some test procedure they can or will do which requires the heater to be commanded on when the vehicle is cold and a fault with a number of components could cause this issue such as low coolant, blown fuse which is unlikely if it does work at certain times, the coolant cabin heater and coolant diverter valve if not a wiring or connection fault.

I did enquire after price & availability of a PTC heater in UK which are c£600 + fitting on an overnight delivery.

I checked coolant level and did try to access the under bonnet fuse box but had to take out the froot insert and then still couldn’t access the fuses because it looked too involved than I could be arsed with at that time šŸ™„

I’m out of both bumper-to-bumper and HV warranties at 54mths & 121,000 miles so will be shelling out for repairs myself.

I’ll keep this thread updated with my progress, pls update with your own.
Any update Mark? I have a similar problem. No heater below 90% charge.

OK, just seen your last post. £2000 yikes!
I know šŸ¤‘

Am convinced it never worked properly from new, never had such heat.

It’s just perfect now.
