Is it a possibility that an OTA update would pause a charging event? Three months to the day that our MME was delivered, the car was charging at home on the Ford Mobile Charger, and for the first time, the charging event stopped/paused. We charge mainly at home, only about once a week, which up to now, has been without incident. Tried all the normal tricks to restart with no joy, so left it until the next morning, when the charging resumed normally. FordPass showed an OTA, for games, of al things, during the time we were trying to charge.

Before you all jump for your keyboards to chime in about the fragility of the Ford Mobile Charger, I am aware of the horror stories, and we are awaiting delivery of a ChargePoint Home Flex, so don't expend the effort. TIA.

Sure it could. If it doesn't repeat, then it did.

Plenty of people who also report long term success using the mobile charger so you should not get any horror comments. But my main comment is to check your charging setting and make sure they are still set correctly. Not sure what updates affect charge settings but there are several posts where members have experienced a loss of their settings.

Some of the updates have reset things, like charging location. Not what was intended, but that's what happens. Always check to see if your Home charging location still exists on the vehicle.

My car installed some update last night. Added some stuff that I never needed such as Alexa and an A/C button. Also didn't fully charge. I woke up to only 90% this morning. No biggie though, I can top up at the office.

Ford Mustang Mach-E Can an OTA update pause charging? 1665763371375

The screen is starting to get a little cluttered now. I was able to get rid of the Alexa thing but it appears I am now stuck with what looks like an On/Off button for the A/C that I have never needed.

You can't satisfy everybody. ;)

This feature was loudly asked for on social media.

Really?
I don't participate in Social Media (except for these forums...)

When I first got my Mach-E, I went looking for the Max A/C and A/C buttons and was disturbed they weren't found on the home screen. Mainly because all my previous vehicles had those buttons readily available AND I used them often so I was pretty sure I needed them on this car.

Now that I have driven it for 53k miles.....I will say the Auto feature does everything I need. I rarely ever need the Max A/C button and have NEVER needed to actually turn off A/C. I do sometimes need to turn off E-Heat but it's not that often and easy enough to do with a couple of click.

So, I don't get the need for A/C button and hope I don't accidentally hit it while switching between the Auto modes (which I sometimes do but not very often actually...) This car is kinda bouncy so nice big touch areas are my friend. I can't tell you how many times I have tried to accept a phone call and accidentally hung up instead because I hit a bump right at the very moment I was about to press the screen. So now I use the steering wheel button for that but it only answers the call. When a second call comes in or I want to reject the call then I have to use the touch screen and that is always a "hold my breath" moment and hope I stab the correct area of the screen. :)

Now that you have the (stupid) Alexa button, you can turn it off. If I recall correctly, just click on the button and then select disable (or some such thing)... But AFAIK you're stuck with the A/C button.

True. :)
If people need it then cool. I don't need it though so it would be nice if I had that choice. Like I did for the little blue circle thing. I don't know Alexa, never met her, don't need her. The native voice commands work for my needs so I am happy with that.

I am in favor of features for those that want them and for those that don't, then offer a way to put them away so they don't clutter things up. I think both worlds can exist at the same time. ?

Yes, it was super easy. I just touched it and it gave me three choices. One choice was to go away and never come back. Love it! :)
That was the easiest break up with a woman that I have ever experienced. If Ford could bottle that and sell it for actual real life relationships then they would make a fortune. Just saying....

On a side note.....
I don't know when it happened, but one of the OTAs or dealer updates appears to have improved the E-Heat latching mode. Before, if I wanted E-Heat disabled then I would have to turn it off every time I started the car. Now, it remembers my preference so if I turn it off on my first drive of the day then it stays off on subsequent start cycles. It looks like it resets overnight but that is fine. I can totally work with that.

So, that is kinda cool. (no pun intended....) :)

Seems like 1 out every 3 or 4 times I hit that damn A/C button by accident while trying to change the Auto levels. Thank goodness my pre-collision assist was working tonight. I better not try and adjust the climate while driving any longer. I will have to wait until I am stopped before messing with those controls now. :(

Getting back to the original topic of this thread, the Ford Mobile Charger faulted out again yesterday with no OTA updates involved, tripped the breaker, and would not restart. Our dealer ordered one as a replacement, so we exchanged old for new today.

Two things of note - the replacement does not come with the 110v and 220v connectors or the mounting bracket, be advised. BTW, if this charger is intended only 'for occasional use' why does it come with a mounting bracket?

Also, as you would expect, it worked just fine when the dealer folks hooked it up to try it out before returning it to Ford. Figures.
