For about the same price as the Grizzl-E Charger I got an Emporia Energy charging station that is WiFi connected and goes up to 48amp if hard wired or 40amp if using the plug in. It’s been great and has energy monitoring in app. Not the best data functionality in the app compared to pricier units but very good Charger so far.

Finally installed the Grizzl E after the FMC gave me my first amber light last week. Used it once more to make sure it didn't give me any faults.

The Grizzl E fits the way I wanted it to wrapped around the post.

Pet peeve: Instead of a mud ring and wall plate you should use a square box cover with the receptacle opening: https://www.homedepot.com/p/RACO-50A-Receptacle-Exposed-Work-Cover-810C/100143248

That way you don't get caught by the edge of the wall plate if you brush by.

I plan on wrapping the input cable around that post to the outlet I shouldn't have any problems right? I used a 15" string to test but Its just the cable looks really thick. The charger will be where the remote controls are. If it won't work then it will be mounted upside down below the outlet.

I know you can open the box from reading up on the GrizzLE for the purposes of of getting to the dip switch for the amps. If mounting upside down can't you just also rotate the cover close it up so that the GrizzLEl logo will be right side up???? I guess not the LED lightbulb is set.

Are you sure you don’t want a remote control for your Grizzle E charger.? Lol

Thanks yea I didnt go over this with the electrician who installed this. I just let him run with it. When he walked it down the week before install I showed him where the outlet will be. I know what your saying, much like on the other side of the post for the 120V (this was down by somebody else awhile back)

That's done wrong too, there should be screws in the top and bottom holes to support the yoke of the receptacles. I bet if you push on the outlets they flex in. That center screw isn't meant to be structural, it could break while pushing in a plug and the outlet will plunge into the box creating a hazard.

They are very rigid, the outlet is not moving at all. I've used this outlet many times maybe he screwed it in from the inside. I can't upload a video of me pushing against it for some reason.

I too am seeing the mobile charger starting to fail. the Grizl-E 40 classic seems like the choice for me for a reliable dumb EVSE.

My question: is the Grizl-e input cable long enough and flexible enough to allow mounting the unit similarly to the Ford Mobile charger - with the unit mounting below the receptacle? I had my receptacle installed to suit "hanging" the mobile charge below the receptacle (as Ford recommended) on a narrow wall surface that won't accomodate mounting side-by-side. The Grizl-e 's input cable feeding the bottom of the unit seems like it might challenge that plan.

Paying for another electrician visit to move the receptacle would be another annoyance coming from the mobile charger failure after a few months of use. I'd like to avoid that if I can.

Experience? Thoughts?
The JuiceBox 32 or 40 plug in 14-50p has a 2 foot pigtail. I had limitations due to where my outlet was in relation to where the stud was. Works perfectly, no extension cord needed.

I put a cradle above the JuiceBox to get the J1772 higher up.

Has anyone hardwired their Grizzl-E yet? I have a replacement on the way and am considering hardwiring the unit.

The Grizzl-E supply cord easily bends 180 degrees so you can mount it next to the 14-50 receptacle. It's slightly longer than the Ford one.

Or, turn the breaker off, take the cover off of the receptacle and rotate the receptacle 90 or 180 degrees as needed to suit your mounting position. No need to disconnect any wires. There should be plenty of extra wire in the box to accomplish this.

Mach-Lee is correct. There should be 4 6-32 oval head screws in the top and bottom of the receptacles. That was a code change back in 1999 as the receptacles would lose the center screw and short internally. I remember the old mud rings. And had to fix a few.
