So my Ford.com account is locked. It's the same account as my FordPass. I can't access my finance page or anything at this time. I have been told it is because I have 3rd party apps I use to charge my vehicle. EA, Shell and EVGO. I was told to delete my accounts and then call them individually to make sure they delete my info and THEN Ford will reinstate my account.

I have not used the FP to charge my car since I used the free time they gave me at purchase. I have solely used the EA app and their discount since that time. Now, am I to understand that Ford wants me to only use their BlueOval Network through FordPass to charge?

I am confused as to why this is an issue.

Is this like saying I can only use Ford approved gas stations or is this not the same thing???

3rd party apps cannot cause this issue unless you are required to give them your FordPass credentials (and you do it) in order to use their app. I have several 3rd party charging apps (includeing EA and EvGo) and don't have a problem.

third party app usage shows same issues here ijn Germany
in our forum many users are affected and Ford stated clearly its because they use a third party app
some deleted other keep the app and check the rigth to use that app by an attory

I don't understand what Ford tries to hide as I am reading my own data

If you've ever used Optiwatt, Recurrent, ev.energy, Tronity, Charge Smart MA, Smartcharge rewards, HomeBridge, or widgets on your phone, those are the cause of your account getting locked out.

EA, Shell and EVgo apps are okay and are not the cause.

But Ford does know it is "you" asking for the data. All they see is a logon by an API from "XYZ Company" using your credentials. Unless Ford and the 3rd party company have a data security agreement in place, I can understand the hesitance to allow access. A better approace would be to simply not allow account access from untrusted sources as opposed to locking your account.

@Maquis
as you are reading your own data, where is the issue not allowing that.
I also don't see the necessity for an agreement between Ford and Third Party as the data is already owned by you.

Ford software however does not provide detailed information, but third party app does.

I'm not reading it - the 3rd party is reading it. I'm sure the 3rd party will only use it in a way beneficial to me! ?

Hmmm...........I do have optiwatt but am currently logged out and not using it. Maybe that's the issue.
There you go, unenroll your vehicle from the website so it's no longer on Optiwatt servers and change your FordPass password if you can. Tell that to the Ford people so they can re-enable your account.

Optiwatt will still ping Ford even if you are not logged in. There are threads with instructions on how to fix it.

Edit: Follow Mach-Lee's advice.

This exactly. I was told to take the steps to delete the offender (tho she could not tell me what app was offending) and they would reinstate my account. If it happened again they would block my access permanently.

Yeah, Ford is pretty hard-ass about this stuff.

Yeah, Ford is pretty hard-ass about this stuff.

Then they should improve their app so folks don't have to look elsewhere.

It would also be nice if their customer service people were more informed. All they could do is read from a manual.....very frustrating to say the least
