While out today I stopped at a Walmart to top the car up (23 MMe er awd) using the 250kw freebie power. Started at 24% and stopped at 81%. Got home and noticed that the charge message stated that I had used 107kw. How the @#$% did I get 107kw into a 91kw battery that started out already at 20%?

What am I missing?

Did the plugged-in time happen to be 42.8 minutes? I wonder if it was a "charge-by-time" location and it charged you based on the max. charger rate of 150 kW (42.8 min / 60 min X 150 kW = 107 kW) (or 18.3 minutes if it was a 350 kW charger)

There have been a few reports lately of Electrify America not reporting the correct kWh delivered. You may need to report it to electrify America or Ford since it sounds like you used BOCN to pay with the free credit. Something definitely didn't calculate correctly.

Yep, I was one of those that 'lost' nearly 70kW in a 15 minute charge session. Getting the over charge back is pretty much a nightmare, I never did, though several calls and emails state so. But it does help that it's a free 'trial' so you know what you are dealing with rather than counting on them to do right.

The receipt said 33 minutes which sounds right

This has been reported before. The consensus is that you also got debited for the kWh consumed by the previous customer.

Possible. But the fact that half of the 107 would be just about right for what I got, So I would suspect a double charge more. Now that I think about it I had glanced at the KW used in the charger screen a couple of times and was thinking that it seemed to be moving kinda fast.

Also... Am on the line with Ford now and they agree it looks like a case of 2 gallons into a 1 gallon can. There no math in the world that can make that work.

FWIW, EA didn’t apply my “pass+” discount the last several sessions (it was full price), and sending them an email resulted in a correct refund (although it was just a credit to my account, not a refund to my CC).

My point is: EA makes mistakes, but they may actually kinda fix it if you tell them.

(oh: and always take a photo of the final charge screen, they needed that for the refunds)

Well Ford has opened a "ticket" for a refund back into our account balance. I'll let you know what happens...

Exactly what happened with me. Mine jumped to 71kw within the first minute. I giggled and said 'that's low, it'll fix its self in a min. At 15 min I realized 75 wasn't the charge rate but the consumed charge :( Ford nor EA actually fixed or refunded me.

I had it happen a couple months ago. I called EA and explained it to them. The person on the phone immediately agreed that it didn’t add up. They ended up refunding $50 of the $57 they charged me. It went through my EA account and then to my CC. It didn’t take that long and required no follow-up phone calls. I never called Ford Because, IIRC, I used the EA app for the charge session so it never went through Ford’s network.

I had this happen on my recent trip. EA actually called me after I reported it in the app. They said that one of the manufacturers of their chargers had a software bug that is in the queue to be fixed. Since I charged by the minute in that state, no refund was due. They also had no way to tell me the actual energy used, just my starting and ending %, which I already have. This has to be killing their accounting system too.

Got a message back from Ford with a complete ticket#. Looks like a 54Kw credit is going back on our account in the next 7-10 days. I was surprised. This whole process was fairly painless.
