Here is what I actually recall. In 11/2019 I placed an order/reservation on Ford's site. At the time I picked trim, color, options. In 03/2021 my car was delivered as configured. There were o opportunities to change anything. I also recall that nearly all MME orders/reservations got converted to sales.

By comparison, When I placed a reservation for Lightning. No choices were available. A little more than a year later, I was given an opportunity to place the order. That's when I got to pick trim , color, options. Once the order was placed, it took about 3 months for delivery. Very small fraction of Lightning reservations got converted to sales.
So, I actually went and looked at my original reservation email from 1 December 2019

Congratulations !

For extra fun, here’s the email I received from Ford on 29 June 2020, showing that my reservation had been converted to an order. Some people actually had issues with this process because their dealers didn’t know they had to ā€œpush a buttonā€ to finalize the conversion of the reservation to an order:

Wouldn’t that have been a ā€œreservationā€, I didn’t think actual orders opened until 2020?
Irrespective, I still paid a refundable Ā£1000 deposit March ā€˜20 and went through all the tracking nonsense right up until start of June ā€˜21 when I was supposed to collect Stangy.

After gifting my Mitzi Outlander to oldest sone & family, transferred ownership, insurance to Stangy night before, I was told on collection day I still couldn’t have Syangy!

That additional 2 weeks’ wait seemed longer than the previous 15 months.

Turned out some moron in IT forgot to program into the emergency call system all 360 degrees of long or latitude and properly test his work so Ford put a stop on all test drives, deliveries etc etc.

I rented a van for the period so I could get my tools in avoiding damage to dealer’s loaner.

I recall during that 2 week delay whilst belly-aching to Ford, dealer and just anybody who would listen, being told ā€œooh but this is Ford’s flagship entry into the EV market check etc etc etc so will be worth the waitā€ When I said to them all I don’t care and if the car don’t do what I expect it to do or causes me problems with range, charge infrastructure it’ll be for sale by end of first week!

But when I got it for that rainy maiden voyage up to Leeds really made the wait all worthwhile.

Now 5 years in and 126,000 mile on the clock and never looked back.

Don’t help OP’s situation, I know, if he’s relying on this as his only transport but I couldn’t have committed to anything in this circumstance unless I knew the car would be ready like this or next week or I saw the car actually there ready to get in and drive.

Ahahahahaha!

ā€œ You have joined a tribe of enthusiasts born and bred of the same spirit and excitement built into every Mustangā€

I was buying a works van, the highest published range SUV big enough for that use so this puff stuff & nonsense led me to reach for the BS buttonšŸ˜‚

I don’t know how the launch outside the US was handled except that it was later šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø
