My two bucket washing method uses two of those (chemical guys). Double the goodness. The amount of dirt that accumulates under the screen is shocking.
My soap bucket is from Griot’s and has one quite similar to those in it; it’s not a 5-gallon bucket-shaped wash bucket, though. I do use the wash bucket grit guard religiously. The rinse bucket is a 5-gallon bucket on wheels and also has the grit guard

Product placement?
Click on link?

It's the filter for the buckets, I know, but the wording made it sound as those the link was to additional information or explanation.

That's all.

Using these looks like it makes sense, but you mention how the dirt is shocking... Are they really that effective or good? How do they help once the sponge is shoved in the bucket?

The trap sinks all the way to the bottom of the bucket. You swirl the dirty mitt in the clean water, take it all the way down to the trap and rub the mitt against the trap a few times. Most of the dirt would shake loose and sink to the area below the trap and get stuck there (the trap is made of many small cones, so once the dirt goes to the bottom, it can’t make its way up there). This design keeps the water cleaner than if you don’t use the trap. Works like a charm every time. The o my drawback is needing to drag two buckets with you instead of one.

Thanks for the explanation, and it makes sense. I will look into this, and in the meantime, I will rinse the sponge or whatever out with hose water BEFORE putting in the soap bucket. At least, some or all dirt will fall out.

All I can say is that it's solid. Used it 3 times so far, and not any problem. Just sharing my experience...
Um, after 44,000 miles on my 2023 MME, and constantly using a brush car wash, I've never had my port door open......

Pretty much use pressure washer (electric) in the not freezing months and the pressure bays at the local car wash during the winter. Pole brush is used in both cases. Grab bar seems like over kill. A little electrical tape over the door would do and not leave any residue.

The weather was finally nice enough to clean my cars today. I used ONR, Hyper Foam, and Ryobi's EZ clean. There was a lot of rain yesterday so it helped with removing some grime from the car for this morning's wash.

For my wife's car, it had not been washed in over two months. It was caked in dirt, and road salt but I didn't get a chance to take before shots. It was coated with a one year ceramic from DIY Detail a year ago but still seems okay. However, the paint isn't the best since it an older car so there are some swirls, scratches, pitting, and chips.

I washed with the following proccess:
1. Foamed entire car first with Hyper Foam.
2. Rinsed with water from the Ryobi EZ clean.
3. Soaked entire car with ONR.
4. Contact wash each panel with towels soaked with ONR.
5. Dried each section I washed immediately.
6. Finally, I applied Opti-coat Hyper Seal.

Here is the result of her car's wash.

For my car, I tried a different method as it was previously washed about a month ago. It was ceramic coated with Opti-Coat Pro+ 7 year ceramic that is almost 2 years old.

1. Foamed my car section by section with Hyper Foam. What this meant was I'd foam one side, do the below and then go to the other side (Roof, left, right, front, and back).
2. Sprayed car down with ONR while Hyper Foam was still on car.
3. Contact wash with a sponge using one 3 gal bucket filled with ONR and a grit guard.
4. Dried with towel immediately.
5. Lastly, applied Hyper Seal.

Here are my before shots.

In total, I think I used less than 15 gallons of water to wash 2 cars. It took about 3.5 hours to complete.

Tires and wheels weren't touched as I rarely touch them in the winter due to the need for additional tools I didn't want to carry in the cold.
