CarPlay Weather apps

Has anyone found a weather app (with radar) compatable with Car Play? I've struck out.

Weather On The Way app has live radar in CarPlay. Took a quick couple of pics for you. I’m in Phoenix and picked Denver as a destination. Temps are cool as it’s 5:41 AM

Sadly there isn’t one (Yet). It’s mainly due to how Apple restricts apps on CarPlay. RadarScope has been looking into adding CarPlay functionality but Apple rejects their request for access/entitlements. no one knows if the restrictions will ease with CarPlay 2.0 but one can hope.

Weather Navigation app does, but just like Weather on the Way, you have to pay for premium features. I think Weather Navigation is a 2hr delay on radar unless you pay up.

It’s in the settings on the map screen, click on Weather then on the right there’s a radar tab. Actually wish it were easier to find.

If you ask the built in Nav what the weather is, once it displays current conditions, there's a radar tab. Good enough to get an idea of what's out there.

I always forget about using the voice commands...much easier than wading through all the screens I posted

I agree. The fact the Ford built-in Nav has weather info and radar is fantastic. Now the resolution of the radar is not great. I'm a little surprised we do not yet really have Nav systems including avoidance of focused summer thunderstorms as a normal part of their route planning here in the US. I'm always doing this manually, taking a different route because I can see on the Accuweather radar that crazy fire-red thunderstorm is rolling like a bowling ball right into our path.

Yes Weather On The Way app does cost $25 per year (or $85 lifetime) but it’s a great app if you want to navigate by the weather (take a route with the best weather conditions). It’s been available since last year and the only one I know of with live radar licensed by Apple for use in CarPlay. It updates radar fairly regular like every few minutes. They have a 7 day free trial period.

You may find it easier to do a screen shot from your phone instead of taking a photo of your car display. The only downside is you get get both the car display and your phone display (as two separate images) and you can’t screen record (and it is only for the Apple CarPlay part of your screen)
