Clever.

I bought this. It's designed for Teslas, but works even better on the Mach E.

That's what we have been using also. Been working great for a year now. The biggest benefit and why I would recommend something at least like this is the GPS signal is so much better if you use a phone app for Nav. I see others complain of issues with GPS when the phone is on the built in charging mat, and we have no such issues with it mounted in this spot. It's also incredibly simple to grab it right after you hit the Power button on the car when you park since your hand is already in the area.

They have a new gen version of it as well, I haven't tried this one, seems to mainly have more capability to adjust the phone location and claims a stronger magnet. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max in a case and have never had issues with the 1st gen one. Helps if you have a case that the case has the MagSafe magnets built in, most of the complaints seem to be from people that use a non-MagSafe case.

I agree about all your points about GPS, ease of access, etc. I also agree that you really need a MagSafe case, ideally one with strong magnets.

Upvote. I purchased the N54 version of this and it's AWESOME. Very well engineered. No damage/adhesion necessary due to the tabs that cover the edges of the screen, and the magnets are strong enough that the phone will not fall. Thank you for this recommendation!

I am not a fan of the magnets around my phone, particularly with a case. I'd rather have physical grabber. I like this one from @AOSK and find that if I rotate 90 deg the phone never slips out even on rough dirt roads.

For those of you using the JSAUX mount (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CH9VW5N3?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title), is there a trick to get it to sit properly on the car's display? It's like the screen is too thick, even with the mount adjusted all the way 'open'.... Not sure if I'm just not holding my mouth right or something....

I went with the ProClip solution, have loved the placement and stability.

I was about to post about this. Yeah, this is by far the cleanest and minimalist solution I've found.

I am just curious, what functions can't Sync, Android Auto or Car Play do where you need access to your phone while driving? I use Android Auto with a Pixel phone and have full access to my phone, my SMS messages, YouTube music, Maps, Apps such as NPR, etc via voice commands or the Infotainment screen.

on regular video calls, zoom calls for work(so they can see me) and do live recordings for work. Need the phone for that.
