Hi everyone I’m new to the MME and just grabbed the vehicle yesterday.

Im trying tofigure out the charging system on this

I’d like the ability to have the vehicle to charge by 530am prior to me leaving. BUT I cannot find this, I only can find the ability to charge between certain times. Then “Departure” time is only to prime the vehicle.
Also I set charging times from 11pm-7am, but it started at 7pm because my electric company discount starts at 7pm… Even though i said follow custom schedule ??‍♂

Please let me know if I’m missing something

Thanks!

If it is charging outside the set times, it might be because the car is prioritizing charging to be at your desired level before your set departure time. If you have it set to start charging at 11PM with a 5:30AM departure time and it starts earlier than 11PM, your battery percentage is too low to charge to your desired % and pre-condition for your departure time.

Just got the car only needed to move 2% to achieve my level of 90%
So there must be a option here, I look at “Departure” time as your leaving at 530am the car will calculate the time prior to this and start charging at a certain time

All the EVs I’ve had I’ve never heard that “Departure” is to hear/prime the battery as some are saying

I wouldn't compare the MME to other EVs. Departure time is to pre-condition the battery and cabin so that you get better range for your drive. It works by pre-heating/cooling the car while plugged in so that you don't have to use battery power to do this. You can set departure time to work without being plugged in but it defeats the purpose.

If you're not getting the desired result, I would suggest deleting all departure and charge times and reset them using the screen in the car itself. The app is nice but there are sometimes communication errors. If you want a consistent schedule, do it in the car. That is what I did and I have no issues. Occasionally, it will charge to 100 when it is set to charge to 90 but that hasn't happened for me in a while. I have forgone charging windows and just allow it to charge when plugged in. My departure times work great.

What level EVSE are you using? If using L1 and the car can not charge to the level you set during programmed window it will begin charging outside the window.

L2 ChargePoint 50Amp

do I need to change something in the car to understand I’m using a 50amp?

You cannot do what you want to do. If you set hours, the car will charge during those hours, beginning at the start time. Departure times are to precondition the battery, and cabin. Manual explains this.

As to it started charging at 7PM, was this when you plugged it in? It has no idea of your discount unless you connect to that plan. Did you check the bullet to use Schedule times or charge when plugged in.

Your understanding is not correct.

No. It will pull up to 48amps.

It seems as if the App converted it back to 7pm even after I stated 11pm for some reason

No, it doesn't do that. If you set the hours, they stay. If you try to tie to your utility company, it uses those. You can't have it both ways.

As @SprManKalEl said, use the screen in the car to set your departure times and charge schedules. There are known issues with the FP app and scheduling, charge limits, and a few other things. ??

It might! Early on, I have had my times reset without me doing anything at the car or from the app. I have been programming computers for over 40 years, and the software in this thing is in the top 10 worst I have ever come across, no exaggeration. Mostly it does not affect drivability, but options seems to have a mind of their own sometimes. It has gotten better over time, presumably with OTA bug fixes. The one that drives me nuts is the seat memory just seems to be random. I use #3 so it can't be confused with a phone or fob, but 90% of the time it is not where I last set it.
And still, about once every one to two months, mine will just not charge overnight, even though I have confirmed it was plugged in (smart EVSE) and configured.
I knew there would be first model year issues, and I can live with them because the car does everything else well that really matters.

I’ve been having an issue where it will start charging outside the window with departure times. I understand that it tries to achieve the goal charge percentage prior to the departure time, and will override your window to do so. Although I wish charging and preconditioning were decoupled.

However, I’ve been having an issue where I’m already at a high state of charge, want to plug in during the afternoon to get ready for an 8:30pm departure precondition but it starts charging immediately outside my window. I’m already at like 82% and it estimates it will be to 90% within an hour or so. Why the heck won’t it wait till my 7:00 window, or at least closer to it if it knows it only takes an hour to charge to 90% for an 8:30 departure?

Are you using 110v?

Then your expectation is wrong.

If you set a charging percentages, and you are within your charging times and plug in, it charges. The fact that you have a departure time set is irrelevant, it does not link the two. Ford has met your desire, they have decoupled charging and departure times.
