Got the FCSP installed today. Used a local independent electrician who came recommended by a reputable custom home builder. He did a great job with the charger and subpanel. Have a 80amp breaker in main panel feeding this sub which has a 60amp to the charger. He wanted to give me a little room incase I needed to add anything in future.

Please don’t mind the holes and drywall cracks. That is me waiting for this to be complete so I can now patch and paint the garage. The light switch is for the attic. Yes everything is filthy. I know. I know.

I do have a question. When using this, do I need to push the “unlock” button on the MME before removing the head unit?

No, not at any level 2 charger. Simply push the trigger button on the charger handle and unplug.

The unplug button on the Mach-E does nothing with level 2 charging.

Love to hear if you have issues with setting preferred charge time (on your app or car) and the charger goes into a fault mode when you plug teh car in.

It's a garage. Ours is objectively dirtier and probably needs a coat of paint, which we have no plans to accomplish (cleaning, or painting). We sweep out the dust and dried foliage from time to time. The important thing is you now have your EV freedom, getting this installed was the game changer I was hoping it was going to be.

What did the electrician charge? There's a lot of people probably interested in learning details of the install, many more coming after you about to embark on the same charge station install journey.

General scope of services for install:

install 80 amp overcurrent at main breaker to feed a new subpanel in garage one level above main panel and other end of house. Installed new subpanel with 60 amp breaker with #4 copper to account for 48 amp load to EV charger. Had to combine two smaller circuits in main panel as I only had one open breaker slot

materials $727.30
labor $980

this was not done through QMerit. used a local and highly reputable electrician who grantees his work for as long as I own the house.

I was happy with the price and his service. knowing electricians are in short supply and high demand here in SWMO, he was timely and worked me in on this other larger jobs. He is an owner/operator so did all the work himself
