Trying to think of a stopgap measure until Tesla Superchargers are added to navigation...

Will the vehicle precondition if a L2 charger is entered in Navigation? If so you could pick a nearby L2 charger to precondition when traveling, which presents more options. Otherwise, selecting the closest CCS charger enroute probably would have worked.

Charged at a new 8-stall Tesla charger in Los Gatos, California equipped with Magic Docks (I have not yet received my adapter). I used the Tesla App which was fast except for a 30 second delay talking to Tesla servers and putting $20 on my Tesla account. They had a "Van Accessible" stall, that was extra wide, allowing charging without taking up an extra stall. Also, the cable was long. It connected easily even though I could have pulled up another foot farther. I got billed $.52 a kwh at 3 pm.

That was the going rate for SCs in CA when we had our MY in 2021-22.

That's a V4. 9' cables instead of the 6' on V3s. There's only a few V4 stations, but they should be rolling out more from this point on.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of the stations we'll be dealing with are V3s, and will be for probably years. (Or V2s that won't work for us at all.)

Hey Lee, thanks so much for the report! That was an interesting tidbit on the adjustment to 40C.

Maybe it's just a function of the cooler temps, but I noticed on your charge curve graph the same amperage drop I observed in my recent DC fast charges. The MME no longer seems to hold ~215A between 70% and 80%. In the past, I would see a flat power level of 75-80kW all the way to 80% but now it's down into the 60kW range right before the 80% drop.

Unless Ford updated the boost to be longer than 2 minutes, net result of the lower amps is slower charging to 80%.

here’s a couple of screenshots from @Mach-E VLOG charge recording from when Ford first adjusted the curve above 80% and you can see that Blucifer was right at 78-79kW.

The taper before 80% has been in the software for a little while, I had that back in October when I used a Magic Dock Supercharger:

The above is a more ideal curve because I was able to get the battery fully warm. Versus last night:

(Spikes are because of the heater switching on an off, which is normal)

So they have definitely been tweaking the charge curve slightly over the past couple years. I need to do a full curve sometime on a 70ÂşF day when I can actually get the battery fully warmed up.

Curious if the Tesla certificate is showing up in your Ford Pass Plug&Charge list? Someone said it may actually be there even if it's not showing in FP yet. Mine doesn't, even though I got the PowerUp in 2/29. I'm tempted to try a MagicDock nearby just to test it.

Yes, I got the Supercharger OTA and the Tesla certificate in the first week of March. I've heard mixed reports of whether Plug & Charge will work without the certificate. Worst case you'll have to start the charge with the Ford or Tesla app.

Trying to think of a stopgap measure until Tesla Superchargers are added to navigation...

No. If there are no nearby CCS chargers (<18 miles) then you can't precondition at all. You'll just have to shut off HVAC when you plug in and it will be a slower charge.

The most recent version of FordPass (Android ver. 4.34.0) shows eligible Tesla Superchargers. Open FordPass, click Map, click Chargers, click Filters, scroll down to "Fast Charging Adapter - Hide Stations Needing Adapter" and un-click the box, click "Apply X Filters". The map will be updated to show Tesla Superchargers.
On the other hand, my in car Navigation does not have Fast Charging Adapter option. The Charge Assist has the option but my copy is acting up to day. It is showing the text but it looks something from MS-DOS days. Nor did clicking the option get an update showing the local Tesla station.

Have you received the OTA for tesla PC. This never happens but I got the update 2 days after the announcement. My ford Nav shows all the usable tesla chargers. I don’t have the adapter yet but I assume like other listed chargers, if I select a compatible tesla charger it will precondition. But no way to confirm this yet

Yes I got the P&C update on day 1.

I see Tesla Superchargers in the "public charging" aka charge assist app, but the navigation will only show magic dock Superchargers.

Good to know thatbis only preconditions for DCFC, which makes sense.

On the other hand, I've had good luck preconditioning for chargers over 40mi before my destination charger when the charger isn't in navigation.

So many were ordered on that first day that the time you ordered played a big factor for the delivery date. Mine went through at 9:03am with a May delivery date. Later in the day I was hearing August, then September the next day.
I reserved my Ford adapter at 7:25am CST and have an estimated ship date of May. I ordered the A2Z at 1:43pm CST on 2/29 and received it on March 20th.

I'm pretty sure my ford nav indicates adapter required.

When the extension cord is released, I am buying it. Tesla is making one, and so it A2Z.
