I was going to put my charger on the outside wall, bought the outdoor use equipment, but changed at the last minute and put it inside. I was worried about having that expense equipment on the outside wall of my house.
So now when I shut my garage door, the only thing running outside under the door is the cord and plug. Seems to work great. Keeps my Juicebox charger safe.

I do, using the Ford ”supplied” $500 charger plugged in when needed (~every 4-6 weeks) to the RV 50 amp outlet. No cover there other than eaves and on a north wall out of the baking sun. Once the “standard” settles, I plan to hardwire an exterior permanent charger in that spot.

Mine is. My townhome doesn't have a garage and I had an outdoor rated plug installed with a cover that I can lock. I just use the mobile charger the car came with. Works great.

Most chargers are reasonably well weather-sealed. They aren't protected against total immersion, but they are protected against pretty much any snow, rain, etc..

You might want to do a hard-wire install where the only exposure is typically an opening in the bottom of the case for the power source and the charging cord (and even that is usually modestly sealed.)

Ford's Mobile Charger is weather sealed as long as the "brick" isn't submerged in water (although they put a pretty short grid connector cord on it -- so it's usually hanging on the wall below the outlet and not laying on the ground.)

New (Yesterday) install for my truck that I park outside, that I was using an extension under the garage door until last night.

ONLY Tesla I will ever buy - Universal Wall charger to be ready for NACS someday. ?

I use the Ford Connected Wallbox (that is a 11kW Type 2). It is mounted outside since two years. That thing is basically double weather proofed. I have absolutely no worries about it hanging outside totally uncovered. It is even on the weather side of the house, so gets lots of rain.
