You don't want to charge to 100% while traveling if you're stopping at DCFC chargers--the charge rate drops significantly after about 85%. We will charge to 100% at hotels, etc., on L2 chargers.

At home, charge to whatever. There are recommendations for around 90%. We charge to 90% during the winter and 85% during the summer except when we know we are going on a road trip. We then tell the car to charge to 100% in time to be full right around the time we plan to leave.

DCFC is Fast charging (15-45 minutes to charge from about 20% to 85%). This is best for traveling or if you don't have a charger at home.

Level-2 (L2) is 240 volt charger that's either plugged into a 50-amp outlet or hardwired at home (other options exist too, these two are the most common). For the Mustang, this can charge at up to about 10% per hour.

Level-1 (L1) is a 120 volt charger that's plugged into a standard outlet. For the Mustang, this provides about 1% per hour.

The Ford-branded mobile charger you got (I guess it's now optional) when you bought the car can be a L1 or L2 charger. You can also purchase a separate permanent L2 charger for your home. You're probably using the Ford-branded mobile charger to charge your Mustang right now...?

So,

At home: Charge to 80 or 90% on a regular basis with your either Level 1 or level 2 setup.

Leaving home on a road trip : Charge the night before to 100% for range.

On the road, away from home on the highway: Charge to 80% with DCFC (like Electrify America) because the charging rate slows down a lot at 80% ( because charging to 100% on DCFC isn’t great for your battery if done often). Go higher if you need to for range but just don’t make a habit of it.

On the road at an overnight stop: Find a level 2 or 1 charger and charge to 100%. Many times it might be free and you’ll be topped off and ready to go in the morning.

Good luck.

Thank you.....That's how I usually charge but someone recently told me that they always charge to 100% on a road trip and only 80% at their house. I typically charge to 80% when traveling using a DCFC fast charging but if time will go to 90%.
