Charging door issue

Charging door got stuck due to rain and then below freezing temperatures

the male part on the door is fine but the female part in the charging bay won’t accept a locking close

has this happend to anyone? / does anyone know the female part that needs to be replaced

I’ve always feared this happening to me. But I’ve seen a few older discussions about this issue posted with parts that’s needed. Maybe this could help.

The charge port door mechanism and the crappy hatch cover are 2 things that should never make it to the second generation E

Yes, mine fell off, basically inside the fender. And it took a while for the local dealer to get the part to fix it. It was under warranty.

I actually saw your video on YouTube!
Was it a expensive fix? I know it’s a small part but sometimes they don’t make individual parts like this

Sorry, but since mine was covered as a warranty issue, I don't know the cost. There must be a way to remove the black plate to get behind it. But it was my understanding that the part is small and falls down within the wheel well and potentially out of the bottom of the car. Though I couldn't see how it would come out.

Regardless, it's not an uncommon problem, reflecting the rather stupid design. My local dealer was able to get the part, it just took 3 months. But that was at the end of Covid. So YMMV.

Many thanks for your solution it works great, I was in Eastern Washington last week, (Eldersburg) the part of the door froze and I could not get it open, it eventually broke off , when I got home I found your solution (due to the col,e weather it took a long time for the glue to dry) but it works great! I have a California Route 1 Mache this is this second time this has happened thanks for your good work
