3-5 minutes after putting the charger on, I hear some liquid being pumped by the car on the left side of the car (probably near the charging port ?!) and about 30 seconds to one minute I get a charging error (on the phone), the charger indicator turns from blue to red and charging stops. Any idea what is going on with the car (2023 Mach-E)? . I've just completed the second year servicing with the dealer I've bought it from (Kirkland, WA) about a month ago.

Pumping noise is normal.

What charger? Lights on it before and after?

It looks to me it happens randomly while charging in [82%, 88%) range. The temp of the plastic around the charging port is slightly warm to the touch and I don't have any measuring device to get it exactly. Every time before the issue happens, I hear some liquid being pumped, the pump stops in about a minute and the blue circle near the charging port turns red. After that the charging simply stops. It started to become annoying because it happened about 10+ times in the last 3 weeks. Today I was persistent and tried a couple of times more and now I reached the target of 90%.

You need to scan for trouble codes.

i've been getting this for the past couple of months. I'm hesitant of taking it to the dealer as they will charge me $300 for diagnostics and, most likely, not find anything. I'm of a mindset that unless i have exact steps to reproduce, dealer won't find anything.

I can charge at fast charging stations. Last time I plugged in at home (I have a chargepoint station) and got this error, i drove to the nearby level 2 charger and was able to charge without any issues.

2 days ago, I plugged in at home, when i was at 7% and was able to charge up to 72% (when I got charging error and it stopped)

Went to the dealership today, they wanted to keep the car for 2 days. The only condition from me was to actually do something the first day and have some sort of justification for keeping it for 2 days. They don't provide any loaners, only rentals. And they've just kept it there (at no charge, doing no investigation) and I eventually decided to pick it up after the first day. Another weird thing is that they get some sort of "telemetry events" but my charging errors are not part of what they can see. Time to figure out where I put my ODB2 scanner from my old VW.

i have a charging issue every single time my car has charged 100%. no matter home, work, public.. but it's reported by Fordpass only, and it was supposed to be fixed in a previous release of the app (4.2 something). We are at 5.19 now and it's still appearing for me.

Got the ECG module update regarding battery management on May 5th, since then I'm getting error charges on Ford Pass on random occurences.
The most annoying part is not having the notification UNLESS you open up Ford Pass..

I'm getting these errors more often now - today I managed to make a video - the error is U3000(49). Now my MAIN problem is that I need to find a @Ford dealership willing to look into the problem - the car is still in warranty :(

Half a year later - the car started to have charging issues more often than not - it errors out when charging from 70% to 90% and never from 50% to 90%. Finally today (10/21/2025) out of desperation I decided to change the dip-switches configuration inside the EVSE from 0b1110 (40A) to 0b1010(32A) and finished charging without any issues. I'll see how long it lasts.

So you never took it to a dealership?

I took it once in the late spring this year. Anyway, the charger is working just fine right now charging with 32 instead of 40A. Hope is going to last.

Something is still wrong, you just put a band aid on it. 32A will probably work for a while until it degrades further, then you'll have the same issues. You probably either have a bad charge port, or bad wiring somewhere before or after your EVSE.

A dealer should do a full code scan.

Check your charge port for damage: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/how-to-clean-and-inspect-your-charge-port.29901/

EVSE or wiring might need to be replaced.

I've read that post back in the spring and all the connections are squeaky clean with no visible damage. If your theory is right it does not explain that is always working from charging from 50% to 90% - this is what was happening after a couple of days of errors. One thing I found is that Grizzl-E has an over-current protection (not mandated by J-whatever charging standard ) that might get triggered when it goes over 40A (80% of 50A) but not when is wiggling around 32A. If that is true and Ford changed the charging profile to simply go over 40A - there's no way either the Grizzl-E or the Ford to catch that in their testing.

When charging with 40A the cable was getting slightly warm (especially when starting from 50%). Now I can't detect it with my hand and I don't have a IR camera or something fancy to detect changes in temp.

I'll update this thread when something happens ;)
