I don't usually stop to see a movie or go shopping when I'm traveling 500 miles.
This thread was referring to DCFC chargers and road trips. We charge at home for local trips.
Might want to change the htread title if this is ONLY about DCFC....lol..
and to each their own. I often go shopping, have dinner, and see a movie while travelling..

I gotta admit that the thread title does indeed invite any comment regarding

The MidAmerican chargers are stating charging speeds for 800V vehicles. The Mach-E is a 400V car, so you get half the speed than what's stated as they are providing the same amperage. So those 150kw chargers are actually 75kw for us. It sucks and is misleading in a way, but it is true for the 800V vehicles. They just need to double the amps for us ?

There are some EA chargers in the area at least that have been more reliable than others.

First post here - yay! But keeping with the thread title, I will say that I've only attempted to use a Shell Recharge charger a few times, each different locations and they were always inoperable. On the bright side, their customer service has responded promptly in a couple to confirm that the chargers were indeed not working.

And slightly worse than that. The MME pack is really in the 345V-355V range instead of 400V. So subtract another ~12% off that. For instance, when we use an older Chargepoint rated for 50kW (125A @ 400V), we really only get about 44kW max.

That's one of the reasons we use EA so much... most of the alternatives are even worse. Except Tesla, other than the fact half of their rural stations are still V2s and thus useless to us.

Despite all the bashing of EA, we still find them to be the best option for 90% of our DCFCs on road trips.
This is exactly my experience too. And brand-T aren't really all that great when they're busy--we can't use them when they're 50% full because of the odd way brand-T drivers park every-other-space.

Not all V3 and V4 locations are open to non-Tesla cars. It's always best to use the Tesla app to find the compatible chargers.
Use the Ford app.

My experience with Shell Recharge is limited to one trip to Houston where I had a rented Mach-E which then led to me purchasing a 2024 Premium AWD/ER. I had zero issues other than cost.
