Collision avoidance worked well!

Well I got to try out the Collision Avoidance system today! Driving south on I-5 in Tacoma WA at the Tacoma Dome exits. Suddenly the car in front hits the brakes. I get the collision warning and pull the wheel to the right. The car was way ahead of me. It had braked and boosted my steering input. The car acted like it was on rails. Really stuck to the road.

Let’s not do that again!

Mine nearly caused a fender bender last night. Heavy traffic, following the guy in front of me about a car length, light turned yellow so i sped up to maybe 10mph closing and just as i lifted off one pedal drive, pre collision illuminated and stopped the car instantly with 5-10 feet space instead of the needed one. Problem was guy behind me, and I knew he was there and needed space too, couldn’t have missed me by an inch. Wonder if i can turn it off in heavy traffic?

You can turn it off but it’s off completely until you turn it back on. I was going 65 and 5 car lengths back. I didn’t really hav a feel for what it would do an now I do.

Don't speed up for yellow lights. Sounds like the car prevented a collision because you were tailgating too close to react. Not sure why you'd want to turn that off when it saved you.
