I’ve had my MME now for 2 weeks and I thought I’d share a few comments / questions. Its quite possible that I am doing some things wrong or was not aware of other settings so do please correct me (gently) if this is the case. The Power-Up software has recently updated to 1.4 so I understand this may be updated further sometime.
I am a company car driver so the original appeal was low tax whilst helping to reduce carbon. I did not appreciate the HMRC 5p/mile mileage allowance (was 4p/mile before Dec), would not cover my business miles. I just assumed it would like it did for petrol and diesel. I will probably look at switching to Octopus in the new year to charge every night but I would prefer not to have to keep plugging it in each night.
The car has taken a little getting used to, but it is smooth enough and the bumpy ride that many have complained about is not unbearable as I was beginning to fear it would be, as I read this forum whilst waiting for it to be delivered.
Having a Merc C350e beforehand I was used to, along with my kids, zooming of maps etc. using the centre console control. On one occasion one of my passengers nearly threw it into reverse thinking they were zooming the map!
My main gripe is the touch screen and the way the screen is set out. I frequently drive alone, long distance, and there are occasions when I require to change something such as destination on the sat nav. Maybe I need to start using the voice commands ?? but using the touch screen I found this very difficult whilst on the move – several layers to get to where you want to and the screen requires a good amount of precision to register a tap.
I would much prefer it is you could set up favourite cards on the screen which stay in position and do not move off the screen. This way it would be easier to change radio stations, go to the map etc. I think it should be bit like a home screen of a mobile phone where you can set the icon/cards/widgets as you want them.
I tend to turn off the lane assistance function as where I live the road markings can mislead at times. I have used the adaptive cruise control and have had one instance on a dual carriage way where the car dramatically slowed down suddenly due to a car parked in a layby, otherwise it is an improvement on standard cruise control that I previously had.
I would like to increase the volume of the indicator clicks
I wish you could connect 2 phones at the same time – one as a main and one just to receive incoming calls
I would like to disable the passive wireless unlocking feature – I prefer to use the fob. I am concerned that the car on the drive may be able to be unlocked even with the keys in the house but close by. The manual suggests you can disable this, but I have been unsuccessful so far.
I would prefer a larger rear wiper so it wipes closer to the top of the rear window.
The rear “parcel shelf” / cover often come detached in the boot – maybe I should attach some elastic bands to where it is supposed to be anchored?
I would much prefer the rear and front parking cameras to have shutters over them that open when appropriate so that rain, spray etc does not obscure the view. My Merc had this on the rear and it worked really well.
Some positives: I love the heated steering wheel & seats, responsiveness, range - recent 750 mile trip in snow I was getting around 3m/KWh . Good storage space – front & rear and in the car itself and the leg/head room in both the back and rear is good. It looks quite good also!
Still much to learn (and re-learn when the software updates things!)
Thanks for reading
