Posting this in case anyone else experiences it...
SYMPTOMS:
This morning, my car was no longer talking to FordPass. The SOC wasn't being updated and the remote start (start climate control) wasn't working. I really didn't think too much about it. FordPass isnt' exactly the most robust s/w, afterall.
When driving on non-highway roads, the lane centering thing didn't work. The alert (vibration) when getting too close to the edge of my lane was working, but the part that puts a round shape around the car icon in the instrument panel and does the "hands on" steering wasn't working. A few times it tried to start, but immediately canceled.
On a highway, bluecruise never even tried to start.
The only active "assisted driving" function that seemed to work was the adaptive cruise control.
Apple Maps wasn't reading the SOC from the car (but I'm assuming that uses the same data pathway as fordpass.)
The connectivity icon on the center console wasn't visible and trying to access the connectivity options on the center console resulted in a blank submenu.
Going to the software update page would seemingly hang trying to determine if there's any update or what the last update was.
The "About Sync" screen seemed to indicate that there were no bluecruise maps.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
When I was finally able, I attached my OBDLink MX+ and had Car Scanner pull DTC's. It showed the GWM with U2401(0) and the IPMA with a DTC I neglected to record (Sorry.) I believe it was a communication related DTC... Some google searches suggested I was going to be visiting the dealership tomorrow morning, but I kept digging.
I did find TSB (23-2122) that might apply, but the only solutions offered by this TSB are to update the GWM/TCU/APIM modules (and I believe mine are all up to date from an FDRS session a few weeks ago.)
Anything uses the 4G modem in the car appeared to not work.
Anything that uses the bluecruise camera seemed to not work.
Everything else seemed to work (including the fob.)
(I do not use PAAK, so I wasn't able to test that, but none of the other FordPass functionality was working and no data was being updated on the ford servers.)
MY FEARS:
I started to wonder if this might be a precursor to the "2023 lockout while 12v has power" bug.
RESOLUTION:
Thinking about the lockout issue, I pulled out my 10mm wrench with the thought of resetting the car via a battery disconnect...
However, the only reason for doing the battery disconnect would be to reset modules, and I might be able to do that via FORScan...
So, I booted up FORScan and tried a GWM module reboot/reset.
This resolved the problem.
SUMMARY:
So if you have the above symptoms, you should still be able to get into your car with the fob. At that point, you can try to reset the GWM module via FORScan, or just disconnect the negative terminal of the 12v battery for 10 minutes (which will cause the module(s) to reset anyway.)
