Compass directions on dashboard

I had compass directions appear out of the blue on my dashboard, and I thought it was a software upgrade, but then they disappeared. Is there a way to get it back?

You are mixing terms.

Are you talking about directions, as in take this exit, or an indicator for North or South.

It's an issue with 2025's and later. I've had it appear occasionally and then disappear the next time I started the car. Here's a thread about it from last year.
