Hi all,

Recently, our Mach-E encountered something on the road that damaged the shutters and punctured the condenser. I took a few photos showing it for anyone who is curious.

You don't have to remove the actual bumper or radar like Ford says. Basically, you remove the bumper cover, air dams, then raise and turn the core support out of the way.

The Dorman grille shutter is the same as the Motorcraft one, with the same markings. These cars do require special dielectric A/C oil, and it's pricey. I already had an R-134a gauge set and vacuum pump, so you can buy replacement fittings for R-1234yf. I used my gauge set to vacuum it, but to keep the system extra clean, I purchased and used an R-1234yf can tap. The cans are actually reverse-threaded, too. Ford specifies adding 1.5 oz of oil when changing the condenser.

Jeez Louise! 😮 I'm amazed that you have the ability to do this. I liken it to a doctor performing knee replacement surgery on themself.
