I’ve been considering a Mach E for a few months doing researching and lurking on this forum. I’ve decided to make the leap with a GTPE. I’ve read some older threads about purchasing lemon/buyback models and wondering if someone could give me any additional info on this VIN?

Software updates, repairs, etc?

Also, welcome any feedback from ME owners who’ve purchased one of the buyback models. Have you had any issues? Did you buy an ext warranty,? How has the service experience been knowing it’s a buyback vehicle?

Thanks in advance!

You didn't ask but the advice I would give you is it needs to be a smoking deal. You also need to keep these branded title cars until the wheels fall off because trade in value is low.

Consider using cars.com search the whole usa and see what kind of deals are out there. Don't be afraid to pay shipping to have a car delivered if the deal is right.

here are a few examples

2024 MME GT Rally 5000 miles $49k

2024 MME GT $43k

2023 GTPE 920 miles $32k appears to have been in a minor accident

2023 GTPE 17,000 miles clean title $38k

wouldn't touch a lemon buyback especially not a tech heavy ev. Software glitches are especially problematic.

For a 2023, unless it’s super high miles, I wouldn’t bother with an extended warranty. The expensive stuff is covered for 8 yrs, 100k miles anyways.

For the buyback, do you know why it was bought back? Could be just waiting on parts or something simple.

As mentioned, deal would have to be amazing. You can get a brand new 2024 GT for $46k right now AND it’s significantly faster than a 2023.

You can also get a used 2021 GTPE for around $29k.

For me to even consider the buyback it would have to be around $35k.

Why buy somebody else's problems? There must be something really wrong with the car if the owner wanted to part with it and it was so bad that Ford agreed to buy it back.

thank you for the feedback and listings! I have been looking nationally with the intention of flying to pick it up and drive it back to experience the EV charging network experience right off the bat.
I’ve narrowed it down to a couple models that are mid $30k’s for 23 GTPE with very low miles (less than 5k). I am planning to keep until the wheels fall off so I’m okay with a lower trade in value.
I guess my biggest concern with a buyback is I obviously want it on the road and not regularly in the service shop, whether covered by warranty or not.

Thanks for the feedback. Both of the vehicles I’m looking at are around $35k w low miles. The dealerships sent me the warranty/repair history but I don’t completely understand it. I was hoping someone here with a little more understanding could look it up by VIN and would be kind enough to give me some feedback on the issues.

You absolutely can have someone look up the VIN and look over the service history. It's near impossible for there not to be footprints left by the technician.

It's none of our business, of course, but some of us would be very curious to know what you are being told was the issue(s) leading to the buyback. Just about anything that can possibly go wrong with a Mach-E is documented here.

And I disagree that a Buyback is always evidence of a "serious issue" with a vehicle. While it often IS such evidence, there are plenty of examples where the buyback was due to "time" rather than complexity.

Thank you! Any suggestions on someone who would be willing to look up the VIN’s for me on this forum?

That’s exactly what I plan to do. ? I’m looking forward to driving it back and experiencing the vehicle and the charging network.
Get an adapter to use the Tesla networks before you go. Superchargers (DC) and Destination Chargers (AC) require separate adapters.

Last month I was looking at buying a plug-in hybrid at the Ford dealer, but the only one to give me $28,000 trade-in. So I looked at Carvana and they wanted to give me 36 and that’s with 6000 miles, So I didn’t feel like pursuing it. But due to some circumstances, I’m going to let my 23 GT go now. I went online with Carvana two days ago now I’ve got 8600 miles on the car and now they’re gonna give me 38,000 for the car. So what that does for me is it pays off the loan and gives me $8000, there’s only $190 pick up fee so I feel pretty good about that price. the level two charger that I have permanently mounted to the house well I can use that to charge my solar generators, I have three of them and it don’t take but a half hour to charge them all the way up with that charger, it comes with an adapter. Speaking of adapters I am keeping the adapter Ford sent me and I’ve got some other faux carbon Fiber, mirror covers and center console. So if anybody’s nearby, look me up cause I’m not gonna need them. The wife’s been wanting to get a different color vehicle. She never really liked the color I got although it does look really nice so it’s going to also be a gas powered car and I’m probably gonna do a zero down 10,000 mile lease if I do get something in addition to my 12 convertible. I remember about two weeks ago I was saying well I could sell it privately for 40,000. With Carvana offering me 38 that straight out, If I ended up buying another car from them, they would actually give me 41 so 40 privately would’ve been a decent deal too I guess. The Michelin cross climate two tires that are on there with 8000 miles. Don’t even look like they’ve even been driven. They look brand new they’re wearing real well.

My 21 ? is over a year and 11k of great miles with no issues later. They should give full report to you on why a ? Mine was of course the HJVB. Not on title here in KS/MO but always on the carfax. I got my $70k sticker for well under half price so worth it for me, as had full stealth ppf as well. Also got the ext wty cheap from Granger.

It would need to be a clean title and half-price off the book value before I would even look at it
