Cost for 10K maintenance?

It might not be necessary to, but it's a good thing for the long haul, a decade or more, to change brake fluid.
Especially if the color is altered from fresh.
I have a ~19 year old Porsche and I'm grateful that the original owner treated it like a vehicle that might be enjoyed at 2 decades old.

Do you think this is based on mileage or just time? I’m at 17,400 miles 3 years and 2 months into ownership.

Honestly, I think the biggest determinating factor is heat, all other parameters being equal.

Two identical vehicles with 3 year old brake fluid could have very different brake fluid conditions. If you aren't one to ever get those brakes good and hot, 3 years probably isn't a problem with modern brake fluid. But it IS a very heavy car and if driven spirited enough to give those sweet brakes a workout? I'm one to not give the fluid the benefit of the doubt.
