While installing a new laminate front license plate, I discovered a crack in the front bumper (see picture). The crack coincidentally aligns with the previous license plate hole, but it is only on the one side. I am thinking this is a flaw and a warranty claim as I have not hit anything with the front bumper. Has anyone else seen something like this?

Doesn't look like a crack to me. Zooming in on the picture it looks like maybe where the old license plate holder rubbed the paint. In my opinion, it's not a warranty claim. Maybe try taking some rubbing compound and see if you can clean it up by hand buffing it.

Why was there a hole drilled anywhere for the front license plate?
Sorry to tell you…. Not a warranty claim, and probably an expensive repair.

I agreed with @New2EV that it does not look like a crack from the picture. I have a very high doubt that this will be successful claimed as a warranty issue.

The ugly-ass OEM license plate bracket is installed with 2-3 ugly-ass screws into the front bumper.

While I agree with others that this doesn't look like a crack but rather a scratch in the paint from the ugly-ass OEM license plate bracket, I think that if the bracket caused the scratch, you might have a claim. Certainly can't hurt to try!

I agree it looks more like a scratch, but it is NOT caused by the bracket. The bracket frame is three inches away. There was nothing touching that part of the bumper at all. It is possible the dealer did it while installing the bracket as it lines up directly with one of the holes. I will take the car in sometime in the next several weeks and see what they say.

Did the dealer install the plate bracket?

Looking close it almost looks like a scribe mark, with a circle where the hole was drilled as well (yes, puzzling since there's already dimples showing where to drill).

Are you removing the front plate bracket altogether? If not, the plate bracket blocks it, no? Not sure what you mean by "laminate plate".
