Out of nowhere my windshield cracked and keeps getting bigger! Im close to 30k miles and have not had any major issues. I already had the windshield recall done too. I have an appointment with Safelite and they are supposed to get the original windshield from what I was told. I pay 500. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I am guessing that the 500 is your deductible. I got a rock chip very early in my ownership. I had
the repair done and it was very good. Most people couldn't tell unless I pointed it out. Unfortunately,
it was right in my line of site and I knew it was there. When I had the glass recall done, they broke
my windshield so I got a new one on Ford's dime. From what I see and have experienced, Glass and
paint are very delicate on the MME.

It's below $2k, but not by much.

Investigate getting a separate glass deductible. I pay $72 a year to get zero deductible.

How do you do that? Through your insurance company?

Yes, but it varies by state. AAA in California doesn't offer it, and CA has no laws requiring it. A few states have a law that $0 deductible is standard and part of comp coverage, others have laws that state auto insurers must offer a $0 deductible on windshields (sometimes more items) with an increase in premium to cover it.

Yes.

In some states it is mandated.
In some states you can ask for it.
And, I have been told, in some states you cannot have it.

Between the windshield and the glass roof (with a
Iip up front), the chance that you drive 10,000+ miles a year and not break at least one every few years is close to zero.
