Cracking In Frame of Driver Side Door

Hello all...

I wanted to post this and see if anyone else is having the same issue....

I was hearing a creaking sound inside my driver side door when I open it to get out. Upon further investigation, there are small cracks in the metal near the post that stops the door from swinging wide open. they are not near any hole or spot where a bolt may be. They appear to be defects in the metal of the door. I am attaching pics of it below. I am sorry if it is not clear from my pics. It is a tough thing to get a picture of, but you can see the cracks.

Anyone else experiencing this as well?

I see the cracks……. Wonder if they are where the spot welds are?! Bill P

Hard to tell from the pictures but there was a TSB for the Ford Escape (related to Mach-E) for the spot welds pulling out. When that happens the whole door has to be replaced.

Is it cracking at the welds?

Yes it is where the spot welds are. Work at a dealership (non-Ford) and they said that is where it is when I asked them to take a look.

Never knew about the Escape TSB. Will bring this up when I take it in for them to open a RO at the Ford dealer across the street.

My drivers side door is creaking too, added to the list of things to check during the 20,000 miles service. I really hope it’s not the spot welds!

Ford has been using this design for awhile, thin metal? are you letting the stop hinge do a major amount of work, only to help not stop
