Cracking In Frame of Driver Side Door

I didn't check the others but that is the left front door. It's been making noise for probably a year. I just assumed it was the door check until this post made me take a closer look.

Can't really tell on my driver's door. There's an edge there, but maybe not a crack (yet). My passenger's door looks worse. Maybe even corrosion on the edge.

My driver's door has been creaking when I go over speed humps, or the car body undergoes any torsional movement (like coming out of the driveway, which comes out onto the street and turns down to the right). It's not a whine, it's more like the soft >scrunch< sound you'd make if you grabbed a leather steering wheel.

Now I wonder if this could be related.

It’s easy to see. Open the driver door wide. Look where the hinge is stopping from swinging open wider. May need to peel back the lining a little bit if it is an issue it will be there….

Whelp! I have new news on this issue. Ford just issued a recall/program for the spot welds on the door. They will perform a one time fix if you are having g that issue. Will post a scan of the letter when I get home tonight.

Glad they are stepping up to fix the issue

I had an accident (passenger front side...a guy swerved into my lane). Took the car to the dealer on the other guy's insurance company's dime. The dealer said they heard an unrelated crack sound in my driver's door. They told me about this problem but I'm out of the warranty period (2021 with 45k miles). She said it's the same problem on Ford escapes. Told me it would cost $3500. Is the only fix an entirely new door? Is Ford going to step up here? This is the kind of problem that typically might not surface in the first few years. So now I'm out $3500?!

I should add....feeling extra rough at the moment since it was just a couple months ago that I had the HVJB brick me.
