The EV Tax Rebate started over 9 years ago. It included plug-in HYBRIDS! Which is why with GM"s Volt sales they exceeded the 200,000 units limit.
Today the IRS recognizes FORD for the tax credit for the Ford Escape Plug-in, the Lightning, the E-Transit Van and MACH-E!
IRS 30D Shows the Approved TAX CREDIT QUALIFYING Vehicles (May 2022)

An important number is 159,588 as of January 01, 2022 for Ford. The IRS does provide a quarterly update that I could find.
A website posted in the past on Machforum is Ford Authority website which shows all of the actual SALES of Ford Vehicles. Not sure how they have FORD internal numbers for monthly sales.
The US sales rates for Mach E: (from Ford Authority)
They do not show a break out of the E-Transits, Escape Plug-in nor the Lightning. So if we assume that the MACH-E in 2022 is the "majority" of qualifying Tax Credit vehicles. Ford YTD "put in service" is above 175,306. That shows that there should be few months left in 2022 to claim the $7500. The unknown big number is run rate of the Lightning. I have assumed the MACH-E with remain around the 5,000+.
Hopefully this will help position the IRS's view. Yes I do recognize that beyond vehicle Number 200,001 there still remains $7500 in that Quarter. Followed by lower Tax Credit amounts in the remaining quarters of that year.
From Fords perspective TODAY the "PROMISE" of the "$7,500 Potential Savings
!
Maybe a hollow sales/marketing promise! I suspect that the on orders of the Lightning and the Mach-E will push the 200,000 units. Yes I know there is a phase down of the $7500 to @ $3,750 BUT ........................Ford should STOP pushing the "Potential Savings".
On our MACH-E hold on deliveries they have provided very little clarification over the past 2 weeks to the Dealer. (I have driven my Mach-e it got off the truck 2 days after the announcement) My Dealer is very good but she countinues to have no real strong dates to fix!
