Relax dude, it was a joke! Much like the Cyberchuck.

I agree on color, that's why tesla will offer wraps.

I'm not sure how automotive paint will stick to stainless steel, but I'm sure they will offer color choices in the future once production ramps up. Tesla does a pretty good job of updating their products throughout the years.

I like that Tesla is willing to take risk. I admit that I don't see the appeal of the CT. It's just not for me. And I like Green Lambos. The last thing I want from an OEM is another SUV. Let's have some variety.
Wraps aren’t exactly a solution.

Just look at the % of cars on the road with paint vs a wrap.

Wraps are good for a temporary color or if you like a strange color, but definitely aren’t a substitute for a good factory paint job.

Of course, it is not a truck, by any definition.
Nor is the Rivian thing, the Lightning, any Ford FX50 something, a Ram, a Silverado, a Tacoma or any other _thing.
Have not manufactured a pickup truck in decades.
Those things professing to be "trucks" are simply MSVs (aka SUVs) w/ open trunks. Whose sole purpose seems to be to destroy as much of any given ecosystem or property or people whenever possible.
When I do see an antiquated pickup truck on the road, still chugging along, it elicits a smile and many memories.
Today's intelligent working stiff buys a panel van. At least some practicality there.
My Toyota 1T Lt truck outperformed anything on the road then(and would now) and for two decades. Drove it that long even though I no longer used it for work.

Completely unattractive to me. We are each drawn to different aesthetics of course. I prefer the style direction vehicles like the R1T are going.

However, I know, in some way, all the buzz around the CT (good or bad) is probably good for the BEV transition.

Kind of like the Mach E is not a real Mustang! ?

You sound interested, you gonna buy you one?
Not particularly since the track record is unproven. Our fleet needs to be reliable. Will see how it performs in the next few years and how it compares to our current electric fleet.

This is a “lifestyle truck”, not a functional one. I don’t think you’d want to put tools in this thing as you’ll probably scratch and dent the stainless steel.

That's why you rhino coat the bed. Definitely not interested in "lifestyle" or toy trucks.

How functional is it as an actual truck? I have yet to see the bed. Our F150s are for field service work. What is the bed capacity? Tool box? Still do not have any details or pictures of this (including the Frunk).
Frunk is only 1/2 the size of a Lightning frunk. You can run laps on the dashboard

Looks like a monument to vanity rather than common sense design. Those sharp edges will be potentially damaging to the truck and anything moving that comes in contact with it.
Yep. Those angles will devastate any pedestrian they hit.

I agree on color, that's why tesla will offer wraps.
Wraps will be great for hiding rust.

According to this article the Cybertruck is rated higher in both payload and towing than the Lightning.

I hope Tesla is successful with the CT, just as I am glad for their success with the M3/MY/MX/MS/etc, even if I don't feel their vehicles are for me. They have a level of appeal to many buyers that goes beyond their looks or even functionality (still no cross traffic alert I guess? Could be wrong). I think we owe the Mach-e to Tesla for making the EV market as exciting as it became so Ford jumped in more heavily. I have no doubt we would get there eventually, but anyone that has been paying attention to major OEMs in the electric space knows they made some very good, but hardly full effort vehicles (C-Max Energi/Fusion Energi/Focus Electric).

So, good luck, Tesla. The CT in my view does very little well based on known stats to make it more attractive than an R1T/R1S, or even a Model X. The bed is too short, the dimensions make it less usable than a standard truck bed, and a unique look doesn't immediately make something better.

The only way I see them shaking up the EV market for the better with the CT is an actual $40k starting price that they stick to. Ford went for it, and was rightfully given a lot of praise, but they dropped that price point so fast that they killed any good will they earned. Tesla has shown that where they lack in many traditional car maker benefits they sure can get margins in line to make vehicles more affordable. If they manage it with the CT I suspect we will see many people that can look past the appearance in the name of a good price like they already do with the Model Y.
