Dark Rearview Mirror?

I know that my rearview mirror is auto-dimming, but even during the daytime it’s darker than a fully reflective mirror would be: it’s almost as though I’m looking through a darkly tinted rear window. It’s useable, but I’ve had auto-dimming mirrors before that didn’t darken at all unless there were headlights behind them.

Having just recently picked up my Mach-E, I’m wonderful if this is “Works as Designed” or “Take this to your dealer.”

The only way to tell would be to compare to another car. Mine seems normal FWIW.

The rear window is darkly tinted from the factory.

I would say “works as designed” because mine is noticeably dark even in the daytime as well. I like it though.

Between my sunglasses, it, and the tint, no glare for me.

Do you have the pano roof? That could also impact it during the day. Sunlight directly on the mirror would make it dim.

Yep, I have a pano roof. But I don’t think the sun was bearing down on the mirror.

There is a forward directed sensor the on back of the mirror, cover it - does the mirror darken? If yes, then it is functioning.

That sensor identifies if it is light or dark out. You want the mirror darker at night because you pupils are dilated and more sensitive to light.

I have the exact same question. It feels the rear view mirror is too dark. Is there an adjustment?

Unfortunately we can't turn the dimming mirror off for some reason. Most other vehicles have an on/off switch!

Yeah, on my Genesis my wife turns it off and likes that a lot better.

Mine seems fine and I’m comparing to the last 5-6 cars I’ve had with auto dimming rear and side mirrors.
Seems like a broken sensor.

No, it is working just fine, the issue is that she just doesn't like it. In all of our cars in the past, she had the option to turn it off and she did.

I've been having this exact same issue with my Mach-E! I took it to my local dealership and they said they saw nothing wrong with it. @Ford Motor Company, do you have any insight? I paid a pretty penny for my Pony, so I'd like it to work the way it is supposed to.

Ditto - The issue is, once it is dark outside, the review mirror stays dimmed all the time.
