I just got delivery of my Mach-e, March 2021 production date, Premium RWD 68kwH battery and need someone to explain what is the function of the tiny little black button on right hand side of the inside rear view mirror? I don't dare to press it.

It would be helpful if you posted a picture of the button you want help identifying.

The little nipple? Don't touch it. It's very sensitive and may cause your universe to implode.

It's actually a sensor not a button, and I believe it's used for interior motion sensor for the car alarm.

This probably explains then why my alarm kept going off when I left the dog inside for 2 minutes and the rearview had clearly been “bonked” out of place when I came back.

This is my first foray into a Ford product, and I have to say that they are coarse at best .... Lexus and Mercedes Owner's Manuals are more detailed, and very clear in minute description of every function inside the cabin.... but Mach e is a spectacular EV !!!

It should ask if you want to turn the motion alarm off on turning the car off. If it doesn't check the settings, the "ask" may be turned off.

Yes, you definitely want to turn off the motion sensor if you are leaving anything larger than a chihuahua in the car.

You can deactivate that sensor in your settings, but it switches back to On every time you restart your car. Ford has promised a fix by Q2 2024 - and it will be OTA! (Software is hard).

There’s another fix available now, but it requires some delicate engineering.

So you're saying that Ford is not at the same level as Lexus and Mercedes? Is that a surprise?
