I have a 2021 Mach E Premium. So back in mid april leaving my job I had floored it to cross an intersection on a divided highway. Halfway across I got a stop driving now and pull over message with the battery, wrench, and other lights.. Then after turning it off and back on it says Shift System Fault. I turned it off, opened the door for 5 mins and let everything reset. Got back in, the warning cleared and I was able to succcessfully drive it t the dealership where I checked it in and left it. They get to it in a couple weeks and say the rear motor needs to be replaced. They did so under warranty.

Fast forward to tonight, car has been fine for a month and a half. Leaving work and merging onto a busy highway I floor it to get up to speed since there are cars coming up from behind. The exact same thing happens again. But this time the power button to turn off the car works very intermittently and I have to press it several times for it to register. Again, I'm able to limp it to the dealership, but since it was past 6 I had to do the night drop and leave my keys. I'm expecting them to call in the morning to ask questions.

Anyone else have this happen? What was the resolution?

Forgot to mention, both times the rear motor has made very rattly noises. Like something is half engaged.

Sounds like the park pawl accidentally engaged while driving, which would probably shear off and grenade it. Not sure why that would be tied to acceleration though. Bad software? Everything should be updated on your car to be safe.

Flagging @Ford Motor Company since this might be the second destroyed motor in a row.

Oof, that is incredibly frustrating. Having to limp the car to the dealership once is bad enough. Having the exact same rear motor failure happen just a month after a replacement is a whole different level of stressful.

I know "DM me your VIN" is the classic forum reply that nobody loves to see. But in this specific case, I really do need you to send me a private message with your VIN and the name of the dealership where you dropped off your Mach-E.

Since this is a repeat failure of a newly replaced part under the exact same conditions, I want to escalate this directly to our engineering team. I want them looking over the shoulder of your dealer's techs to figure out exactly what is causing that rattle and fault.

I'll keep an eye out for your info and once we have that we can start to investigate further.
