How important is DCFC pre conditioning in the warmer months? I can see it would be very helpful in colder temps?

It is not important, we think.

That said, no one has shown that if temps are very hot, the car doesn't cool the battery adequately while driving, and that the precondition feature that warms the battery actually would cool it even more than driving. That still needs to be demonstrated.

I’ve actually seen my Mach E cool the battery pack while I was on a long warm trip before a DC charge stop. I was watching the battery temp with Car Scan. The car never notified me that it was doing that though so I assumed that was what happened.
