When the dealer accepts your online order, does the dealer’s system assign it a new order number since the two systems are not linked?
You may get a dealer number which is a dealer tracking number and nothing to do with Ford production scheduling, When my order was placed I did receive a number from the dealer.

I called Ford today just to make sure everything with my online order was ok and confirm whether Larry H Millet is EV certified. I learned that my initial order is ok and the dealer is EV certified. So that is good news.
They are EV sales certified. But according to Ford's dealer locator (click the checkbox for "Certified Electric Vehicle Repair"), they are not EV service certified.

And that's perfectly ok! There's no issue with having warranty work done at any different EV certified Ford dealer.

These Phoenix area dealers are EV service certified as of today:

AutoNation Ford Scottsdale
Bell Ford
Camelback Ford
Chapman Ford
Don Sanderson Ford
Earnhardt Ford
Peoria Ford
Rodeo Ford
San Tan Ford
Surprise Ford

The requirements to sell EVs are fairly simple. They just need a couple of basic EVSEs and a certain number of employees have to be specially trained on EV sales.

But not all dealers have committed to becoming certified to service electric vehicles. They'll need to pay to train a number of their mechanics on how to safely work with the high voltages. They also need to buy some special equipment, such as a scissor lift for removing the heavy battery pack from under the car, a high voltage battery tester, and a smoke machine to check for coolant leaks while replacing certain components.

My guess (total speculation) is that LHM Ford and Robert Horne Ford (in Apache Junction) are just not predicting enough sales numbers to make the investment worthwhile... But as we get closer to release of the Escape PHEV, e-Transit, and F-150 electric, they're definitely going to want to join the bandwagon by then.
