Hi all,
I didn't find a thread that shared experiences from the dealerships that we've all worked with but thought it could be very useful.
I'll start bc I've had two experiences of local dealers that were night and day. I'll first state that I don't get have my MachE so I can only attest to the order process at this point.
Matthews Currie, Nokomis Fl
First, my sales guy Mario actually knew cars which is refreshing. We get drove one, love it and came back to order the next day. Easy peasy. 10 minutes of paperwork. A verbal yes on x-plan (i know, should have gotten it in writing), no deposit a printed sales order and it the door I went. About a week later he called to let me know a premium almost identical to mine had become available after a customer backed out. They wanted a 5k mark up. I wasn't in a rush so I passed on it, but it was nice of him to give me first option on it.
Sarasota Ford, Sarasota FL
I'm out a second order bc of this dealership. They should change their name to Shady Ford of Sarasota.
I walked in on 2/11 to order a Mach-E. I was told I had 20 minutes to get the order in before the order bank for the MachE closed by Ford. No problem... I knew exactly what I was ordering. I also knew that it should only take 5 minutes bc we had just placed an order for myself (this one was for my husband) at a different Ford dealer. I'm not sure why, but the guy taking my order kept leaving me there to sit and wait. Now, there were no negotiations going on... I knew the price was too be Msrp. Same guy comes back and asks for my deposit. He tells me it'll be $1000. I asked why there was a deposit(other dealer didn't charge one) he said, "so if I cancel my order Ford will know this was a legitimate customer order and not one the dealer placed so they can take it into their inventory and make an extra 10k on it." Ok, fair enough. " i gave him my cc info. Order was placed within the time frame they gave me to ensure the order would be placed. I was not initially given the order confirmation until I asked for it. Upon reviewing it, there were 'mandatory accessory charges for time windows, door guard etc... none of which I wanted. I went back in to talk to a manager who told me that my order wasn't able to be placed that night and they'd have to wait until Monday to 'see if they could get it in'. Now I'm confused bc order was placed in time allotted, sales guy confirmed it was put in, now manager said they didn't have a way to submit to Ford that night. Next day (Saturday) manager calls to tell me they were unable to get my order in and "Ford had closed its order bank for the MachE. I called back to speak with the original sales person I wanted to order through and he told me that the guy who pushes the orders to the Ford Order bank was not there last night. The whole thing was a farse from the beginning.
I'd love to hear your stories on both ordering or buying one off the lot.
