It does hurt, as the price increase basically washes away the entire amount of tax credit…
Since you mentioned tax credit -- keep in mind that in 2023, the rules are changed. The Mach-E may not qualify for the full $7500 federal credit (or any at all) if you take ownership in 2023.

But also, these reservations for EVs generally only require a small, refundable deposit. You can change your mind and cancel your order at any point. So if you are on the fence and can part with the deposit, you might as well order and see how you feel when it shows up at the dealer.

Hi everyone, I’m not a MME owner but am considering one. I had no experience in EV and started to look about 4 months ago. After some research, MME Premium RWD SR becomes my choice but unfortunately Ford stopped accepting orders for 2022 model at that time.

As you know when the order bank reopened for 2023 model the particular trim I am interested receive zero upgrade except for a $6800 price increase.

It does hurt, as the price increase basically washes away the entire amount of tax credit… I have not booked one yet, mainly because there will be so many more EVs coming out in 2023 (Chevy, Fisker Ocean, Nissan, etc.) and MME (which is pretty much the same car from 2 years ago) no longer seem to stand out among the competitions, at least on paper. Maybe I am missing something.

I still consider MME to be my #1 target, but the extra price is hard to swallow as those 2023 EVs from other manufacturers seem to offer more technologies with lower prices than a “2021 MME equivalent”. I know MME will get new LFP batteries next year, does it mean there will be a cheaper trim/option or a range upgrade? If so, at least it will make me feel I don’t pay the higher price tag for nothing.

I know this ultimately is my own decision but would love the experts here to point out if I am missing something or share your thoughts. Any comment or advice is greatly appreciated.
You want to order asap. I did in summer 2021. Ford kicked the order into 2022. Having a good six figure income gone in ‘22 the credit would do me no good. Got the same car off a rural lot in December. Got the credit and credit for the charger.

Best car I’ve ever owned. Had Blue Cruise day one. The ordered one came in February 2022. Dealer gave me my money back and I have a good relationship with both dealerships.

I my wife got a convertible Mustang, we leave that South of the Mason Dixon. A ‘65 was my first car. Got a Vette in the garage. The MME beats them all. If you get one you’re gonna find a few haters.

Buy what you like to drive, unless you mostly like to sit and stare at your car on a podium ;>

We'd looked at the Tesla Y, the Bolts, the Nissans and the MME (ioniq and sibling weren't available at the time) and went the MME, got tired of the wait, and managed a slightly used MME GTPE. Its my wife's car and she totally loves it. 10K miles and she still smiling every time she even talks about it.

We've had some other EVs (Corbin Sparrow, small fleet of eBikes, 2018 LEAF) the MME is the most fun to drive.

A Standard Range Premium will set you back at $56300, at that price, it is worth looking at the VW ID.4 and the Kia EV6,maybe order all and see how it plays for you.

Personally, my first choice was the Ioniq 5 but they weren't taking reservations at the time. I ordered the Mach-E in Oct when the '22 banks opened up. Honestly, I really love my car for the price of what it was at the time last year. I'm not entirely sure I would buy it at the current prices.

Another thing to consider is that interest rates were raised again. Who knows how what will happen to them the longer you wait.

You should order the MME!

I ordered both the MME and Lightning at the same week in April and got the 2022 Lightning delivered in July.

Now my wife's 2022 Select MME is being converted to a 2023 Premium SR RWD with a $6,000 price protection (getting a 2023 for the 2022) price.

Didn't like the loss of color, options, and low APR + incentives...

But don't have a choice now with how constrained the MME is - just received the Ford "every 6 weeks" email again !

Mine was the EV6 but I could only sit in one on the dealership floor, no test drive, and a non-refundable deposit through the dealership, not the manufacturer. Couldn't even find an ioniq 5 to sit in. I guess to be fair I had to find an extremely marked up, used mach-e to test drive but still was able to drive it. The refundable deposit, price protection, and incentive protection sealed the deal for the mach-e.

My DH has a hard rule of not buying any new model year car. I agree with it completely. Too many bugs to work out on a new/revamped car. I'd keep that in mind while deciding what to do. Also, I love my ‘22 Premium.

Right but not sure how to avoid that now unless I pay markup and buy one right away.. I am hoping while I am waiting for the delivery in early 2023 there will be more clarify which cars truly quality for the full $7500.

Thanks. That’s totally true but with tax credit the MME would still be under $50k. I would say the closest competitor is the Blazer EV. I heard ID4 is a solid EV but not quite as comparable to MME.

That’s the pain.. if there were no comparison I would just go ahead and buy the MME. Paying extra $6000 with no upgrade is hard to swallow…

I just hope the stock market will bounce back next year so I can sell some stocks to pay for the car instead of having to use a loan. :)

I was just at the Orange County Auto Show and I was able to sit in MME, Ioniq, EV6, and bunch of others from more expensive brands. If there is one near you you should definitely try!
