Delayed mirror unfolding

Let me preface this post with : "Yes my auto fold setting is set to on". . I have also done a full 12v reset.

Since 6.2.1 I noticed that my mirrors often unfold much later than before. Prior to the update they unfolded as soon as the door button was pressed

Now, they often don't auto unfold until I get in the car , sometimes waiting until I turn the car on. It's as if some function responsible for issuing the unfold command is asleep after the latest APIM update. Many times they still unfold immediately after the door button is pressed.

Has anyone noticed a similar behavior?

It’s a known bug that started with one of the 6.x updates. No fix for it until Ford releases an update unfortunately.

I had that happen once last week, only my driver side mirror, but the passenger side opened right away. The driver side didn’t open until after the car was started. So far it has only happened once.

Mine doesn't do it all the time, but when it does, its very delayed. Like, I'm almost fully backed out of my driveway and then they decide to unfold, delayed.

I wouldn't go quite that far. But it doesn't seem to be uncommon.

Maybe that is a feature? It always frustrated me when the mirrors would unfold when I unlocked the door (though it is a nice indicator of lock status). But when you unlock just to get something and the mirrors do a fold cycle, it adds unneeded wear and tear on the mechanism. I would rather them unfold when you start the car, or even put it into drive or reverse.

I would guess anyone who is in the 6.x power up range.
I miss the days where we had to toggle the setting after an update. ?

That's possible. But I know it's not everyone, since I haven't experienced the issue (yet). My last update was 6.8.

I'm on 6.8 but don't experience this issue. my drivers side mirror though does have a bit of a stutter now, not sure if I need to grease something up or what

I like the sound of this. I would much prefer to not have the mirrors open/close every time I unlock a door. It is less wear and tear on those little motors and gears to only open when you press start.

IIRC that's selectable in Forscan.

Had this happen again this morning. It does seem to only affect the driver side mirror.
In general I wouldn't mind the delay given the points made about unnecessary mirror unfolding when trying to just get something out of the car. However, the delay sometimes lasts to the point where I am trying to back out of the garage (which breaks the 360 view).

Glad it's not just my car, but a "feature" distributed to everyone.

Mine affects both mirrors when it happens. Usually 10-30 seconds delayed id guess.

I'm parked in a garage so they stay dry.

I'm on a later update but haven't experienced the delayed unfold concern yet. This thread is the first time I've read about it.

My car has had the stuttered mirror unfolding since delivery.
